It Gets Better at Brigham Young University

I guess you lucked out on that one then.

You should post more. +19

Some past Mormon leaders have SAID some crazy stuff in the past. Luckily they were never as crazy as current MUSLIMS who are actually KILLING homosexuals by hanging them. I would keep your mouth shut because the Muslim religion is the most anti-homosexual organization in the world.

The problem is, Clown, you actually believe this. You are the TBS of Mormonism, good job, doe.

All the LDS church does is cause lifelong depression and suicidal thoughts.

I'm pretty sure the LDS church just abides by their rules. It is the person who is going against those rules who is causing "lifelong depression and suicidal thoughts". I'm on your side, bro-haim, but this kind of illogical blather really makes me cringe.

First of all I did this because TroutBum went to the Muslim forum and starting saying the reason Muslims are Muslims are for Virgins. I don't mean to offend any Mormons.

We have a Muslim forum? Link? Time to get my joke on.

Here at BYU, we are very accepting to homosexuals. We treat them just like any other people, and they can attend our university. We just don't want them to love anybody. That's all.

And Thriller is right, Provo is the most accepting of different cultures and lifestyles of any city. Thanks for your questions.

This thread is depressing. I'm going to start drinking earlier today now. Thanks *** holes.

It was 11:40 when you posted this and you hadn't started drinking yet? You're getting old.

This was a great video and I think actually makes BYU look good. Sounds like none of these people have received any hate or mistreatment from their fellow students.

I know, right? Their gay and no one from BYU has treated them like ****. Victory! Settin' the bar low FTW!

I don't get it. Why do people try and point out the negative in a positive? I mean, keep on hating, if that makes you feel better.

Trollololololol

Hmmm, I guess that's like, your opinion man. The fact is, even the prophet of the LDS church is a man, and is therefore fallible. I am also vehemently against the church's stance on homosexuality, science/evolution/age of the Earth, among other things, but you'll never get me to leave the church. I'm fairly certain you'll never find a bishop or anyone in authority that will tell me that I need to either change my mind, or get out/start my own church either.

That being said, I see why you feel the way you do, and I don't begrudge you your feelings. Heaven knows you've probably had a harder go at it than I have. We should get together one of these nights, have a few drinks, and I can show you the pictures from Archie's bachelor party. (hint: Cap'n Morgan, clown costume, video camera, donkey)

Details please.

I attend the U of U, but I've actually been to this USGA (understanding same gender attraction) meeting at BYU before. I've met many of the people in this video and was one of the first people to watch it (saw it like 10 minutes after they finished the editing). If you live in SLC/Provo/whatever, I highly recommend going to one of their meetings...it's a very fun group of people with a lot of spirituality mixed in; it's really very interesting to hear from first hand experience what it's like to be both gay and LDS. They meet every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Talmage building...I believe....can't remember the room number, but I can find out if anyone wants to know.

Anyway, I have pondered homosexuality a lot, both in a political context and in an LDS context. I'd rather not get into a big debate about this stuff with everyone right now, but if anyone wants to have a personal discussion on the matter, just PM me and I'd love to exchange thoughts.

Also, for those who want a little more context and information on what it's like to be gay and LDS, there is a documentary coming out this summer on this very subject made by a BYU faculty member (or at least he used to be...I don't think he is atm). In the film, and even in the trailer, he addresses a lot of the questions being discussed here. Here's a trailer:
