Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Grimes, Toppin, Fournier and a boatload of picks would be a great scenario IMO.

Bolmaro - JB
Grimes - NAW
Beasley - Fournier
Toppin - Vanderbilt - Gay
Kessler - Azibuke

Trade Bogey, Clarkson, Beverley and Conley for additional assets. Whoever comes back in those deals can compete for a role and minutes as well. Try to flip Beasley, Vanderbilt, Gay and possibly Fournier at the deadline if possible.

I’d try to avoid taking on more that 2 years of bad salary. We want any incoming contracts to end going into the 2024 offseason so they can open up a max slot and hope there’s someone worth filling it with.
A team worth cheering for!

I think people are starting to overrate the knicks future picks. A lot of posters have said that the knicks are a trash organization and that has certainly been the case in the past but I think they finally made the right hire with Leon Rose. He has done a great job over the last few years building a strong asset base of future picks and solid young players with nice upside. With him in charge and adding Mitchell and Brunson I think we will see the knicks consistently in that upper tier of east teams within the next 2 years. At that point I think they also become a solid free agent destination. With that being the case I think the knicks 23 pick may end up being the most valuable of any future knick picks. If we are going to ask for 5 picks then I want the 23 and 27 knick picks unprotected and then the Dallas, Detroit and Washington future picks. I would expect the Dallas pick to convey this year which would give us 5 first round picks in the 23 draft.

They don’t have any cap space and won’t have any for the foreseeable future.

Let’s do it then. Think of it this way if the Knicks called us right now and said take Randle off our hands and we will give you two 1sts would we say no?
Am I holding their draft picks? Because if I am, I want them to choke on that contract. The only things they have left to give is the protected stuff from other teams.

It isn't that hard for teams to create cap room. Randle is the only contract that may be difficult to move but if he can play even close to the way he did a couple years ago then that isn't a bad contract at all.

I actually had fun rooting for losses during the season that culminated in the Exum pick. Only thing I truly hated about that season was Corbins unwillingness to embrace the tank and develop our young guys with more minutes rather than play Richard Jefferson, jamaal tinley and other vets so much.
If he would have embraced the tank then maybe we end up with embiid instead of exum.
Buy ya, you are right. We will get behind the tank. At least I know I will. Im gonna be actively rooting for losses next year and look foward to it.
Rooting for a listing season and ending up with Dante Exum is the reason I don't root for losing seasons anymore.

They would still need to move at least 20M more. They will also have no draft picks.

Is it possible for the Jazz to not take matching salary back? If a third team were involved could the Jazz just take the players they want or do the Jazz have to take matching salary back?
