Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

The idea that the Jazz wouldnt want Barrett or Herro because of paying them doesnt really float to me. Who else they going to pay? Not like a 2nd year max is going to kill your books with how much the cap is going to up in 2025.

Exactly. We’d still be WAY under the salary cap minimum with them on a max let alone slightly lower than the max.

We will have a **** ton of picks. Our own plus Minnesota’s plus another teams when we trade Donovan. What are you talking about?

I say the Jazz can take a couple bad contracts as long as they only have 2 years max left on them. If that's not the case then they better be relatively small bad contracts. Otherwise that isn't what's going on here and we should move on to the next higher bidder. I'd take fewer picks than get more with bad contracts and protections.

That all sounds about right to me. Surprised to hear there isn’t a stronger market for Clarkson. I’m also really curious to know the market on Beasley. I think he could be the piece in the rumored Sexton S&T.

Jazz need to be in touch with Miami about getting that 2025 pick they owe unprotected. They should find a way to send a 2nd to the Heat to make it happen. The unprotecting of that pick needs to happen or else I think NY might seriously drag this out. If the Heat/Thunder (and Jazz?) can make that happen in early September then that would be choice timing. Might help the Knicks to operate in good faith. Or the Jazz just trade with Miami and get on with it. Seeing the Knicks walk empty handed would be enjoyable for me too.

Yeah let’s take back two ****** contracts to make the Knicks cap flexibility and ability to improve their roster even better…do we want to end up with the 21st pick?
