Exactly. That's why a tank is so incredibly unlikely.

If we were trading Donovan Mitchell, it would have been for the expirings, 4 2023 1st rounders and other future picks NY had. Since they had that load of assets, they have traded the expirings, a ton of 2nd rounders and some of the 1st round assets. Plus, he doesn't seem like a natural fit next to Brunson anyway. We could have traded Don for Kemba, Burks and Derrick Rose and like 7 1sts round picks.

Miami would send Herro who is a #3 and picks that aren't great.

I don't think Don is going anywhere. If he does, it wouldn't be for a tank.

Sure its not ideal, but picks are picks. The tank is going to be powered by who the Jazz draft by their own ability to suck then they can use the picks they can get in trades that arent as good to roster build and make moves.

Go listen to the hoop collective pod… they indicated it might be happening.
 
I honestly think the Spurs deciding to trade Murray and tank, as well as KD and Kyrie seemingly heading West, has probably convinced Smith/Aigne to pursue this option harder. Not that they wouldnt otherwise, but those things are making it an easier choice.
 
Tank is really the only way forward, IMO. It’s a certainty this roster won’t win so why delay the inevitable? The ASG? No chance.

My vote is take as many FRPs + as much crap as you can for Rudy and Donovan. NYK would be ideal given the near-term proximity of using a number of their picks (we use them next year or trade them for future, minimally protected picks). I personally won’t fret much about how valuable we think Team X’s pick in 2027 will be; that’s an eternity away.

IMO, the more important piece is that we ourselves suck this upcoming season and give our own pick a real shot at top 3-4 next draft.
