Jazz Decades NBA Fantasy Draft

David "The Admiral" Robinson

Huge, athletic, great defender, great offense, class A dude, and patriotic as a balls.

Averaged over 20 and 10 throughout most of the 90's, and filled the stat sheet with assist/blocks/steals.

Yeah it was between The Admiral and Shaq for me but at the end of the day, I just feel like Shaq knew how to get things done and win big games.

With the 5th pick of the 2nd round, PKM, selects Scottie Pippen.

Do it all guy that could shut down anyone (defensively) in the game.

With the 6th pick I select:

Patrick Ewing
1984_PatrickEwing.jpg

Ewing was a force in the middle for the Knicks in the 90's with averages of
PPG: 24
RPG: 11
BLK: 3
AST: 2
FG%: 51
FT%: 75
As a HOF player and one of the 50 greatest of all time Ewing was an athletic big man that produced fantastic numbers across the board. A true Defensive Center that put up over 20/10 throughout the decade. One of the best true Centers to play the game along with Hakeem, Shaq, And the Admiral, playing in a time were the Center position was feared.

I feel like me and a few others are at a big disadvantage, never having the chance to draft 1st or 2nd in any round and therefore never getting the true studs who stand out. The 1,2,7,8 picks get the studs five times each. You only need five guys to start. Their teams will be stacked and ours will be ****ty. Dammit.

What I've noticed, having done many of these over the years, is no one remembers the 'rules' once the teams are completed (for example, how well so and so did during a specific time period). It's too difficult (and not as fun) to try to digest all the data. To your point, KrazeeSalmonEyesHoboKiller, the star power gets the trophy. I ain't whinig though, just looking for Jazz related things to do to pass the time for the next *gulp* year or so.

I was curious if people (and maybe they would have if there were more teams) would have selected players that played in the 90's but had their dominate years in the 80's (Magic, Bird to biggest names) either for the star power of their name or just playing defense to keep them from the other teams. Also with the run of big men in the 90's (still expecting Duncan to go) it does leave some really good big men left for the 80's & 70's. It's all strategy IMO on who you want at each decade weighted by position and fore site, but as KOC says hard to go wrong with BPA and I don't want to name players since I'm not participating although it's not like it would really help as I'm sure they'll be picked anyway just don't want to be perceived as meddling.

With the 7th pick of the 2nd round Chad Feldheimer selects: Charles Barkley

Also can we have everyone just copy and paste the draft results below their picks? Just so we don't have to search all over to find out who is up and who has been picked.

Duncan is a great pick Chad. But everything that says 2000 or later doesn't count because you took him in the 90's section. So you get the 2 years worth of stats for what he did in the 90's. I would have waited until the 2000 section to take him personally

Thanks for pointing this out. I will try to pay closer attention.

you can change your pick if you'd like before the next person picks

I'm going to get ready to go. Chad, you're back on the clock if you want. If you like your pick, it would be nice if you let us know first. I will be picking in a few minutes either way I guess.

HELL YES.

With the 8th pick of the 2011 1990's NBA draft, NUMBERICA selects...

TIM DUNCAN

timduncan.jpg

All Duncan did in his one and a half seasons in the 90's was put up 21.5 PPG, 12 RPG, 2.5 BPG, and 2.5 APG while winning a ROY, going to every All-Star game possible, win a championship, and a finals MVP. In the conversation for the best PF of all time, one of the greatest Cs of all time, and without a doubt the best PF/C the game has seen. That gives me some versatility.
