Jazz Pre-Draft Camps and Workouts

Might be a player some day isn't good enough. Whiteside has the biggest chance of being a bust, and there are plenty of other bigs in this draft worth a look. According to Draftexpress at #9 we have available Aldrich, Davis and Patterson, then there are the swingmen. Don't expect George to be available #9 on dd.

I do think Xavier Henry could be in the Jazz's draft picture more than people are talking about. Although George has more upside, Henry would be good in the back court with D. Will also. Henry should be a good pro.

I'm still just so-so on Babbit. Although he's a good athlete, I'm wondering about his quickness, versatility and ability to play inside.

No matter what, the Jazz will get a good player. I still don't think they'll settle for Aldrich or Udoh. I also don't think Monroe is a sure thing at all. Patterson actually looks better to me than those guys.

I have to agree on these points

George would struggle in a disciplined system a la Deshawn Steveson. He would become a better player but it would take time.

Henry is would be able to pick things up quickly and he looks like he has a fairly mature game.

I don't like Babbit on the Jazz. There is just something about him that makes me think he will be a bench scorer and not a star.

Aldrich would be okay. A role playing big man. The mythical defensive center. I just wonder if he would be outclassed against Howard and the Lakers.

Udoh will probably be a good player somewhere but I don't think at his size 6'9" he would make a very good fit here.

I see Patterson being a more successful pro but again he isn't a good fit here.

I don't want any part of Monroe.

I would be tempted to bring whiteside in again and see if he does better and has a better interview. If he is emotionally immature that is one thing. If he can't hack it at this level that is something else.

I also want no part of Monroe.

Regarding Xavier Henry - draftexpress list his best case scenario as "James Posey." -- Really? That doesn't sound like it would be worth the 9th pick.

This whole Whiteside slide thing reminds me of the 1985 draft when a very raw personality from Louisiana Tech started to slide based on reports of "Character Issues."
