Jazz select Cody Williams at pick 10

His low 3 point volume was somewhat discouraging....but COL was 333rd in 3FA a game despite having 4 guys in their starting lineup shoot 40%. I'm going to chalk that up to dumbass college coaching.

I think Cody is in the rotation Day 1. It might take til trade deadline for Collier to see the court
nah, collier is ahead of williams right now. his body is nba ready and he's so much more aggressive. he'll force his way into the rotation, where williams will be more passive and willing to watch. williams has more long term upside, but collier is ahead at this point.

Collier stepped on campus at usc with veteran teammates and immediately became the alpha. the leading scorer right off the bat (he and boogie ellis finished the season both at 16 ppg) and the primary ball handler and playmaker. williams was more willing to sit back and let other guys do the heavy lifting. that's okay, it's just the difference between an alpha, a guy who expects himself to lead and be the best and somebody who has to grow into that.

no need to agree with me or trust me - we will see this bear out in a couple weeks. williams is going to love playing with collier though - gonna see a lot of great looks.

I think that Cody can play really well with Keyonte in transition, pushing up the pace, and with Lauri being another lanky driver. On defense he looks like a perfect fit with Hendricks. In general, he is an easy player to plug into any lineup: he does not have obvious limitations of Kessler, Gobert or Lauri who all need very specific players to complement them. Even if he never pans out as a major piece Cody still will be a very valuable role player, like Hendricks.

I like the direction that Ainge has taken in the draft with Hendricks, Cody and Collier: size, agility and versatility. And if Keyonte somehow becomes a below-average defender Ainge will look like a genius.
