Dunn is averaging 12.6 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 4.3 APG, 1.9 SPG on 54/41/78 shooting splits in 23.3 MPG through 7 games with us so far. We should definitely sign him to a multi-year deal after this second 10-day is up. I love what I have seen from him.

This is my thread, but to be honest I would have never gotten around to making it. I’d normally backup my argument but I’ll just go ahead and make the statement that we get him on a long-term deal and he becomes our “almost Marcus Smart.”

Sounds good to me. I assume his defense has been above average too, since that’s been his calling card.

Dunn has a maddeningly loose handle, is an undisciplined ball hawk of a defender and plays a super inefficient brand of basketball.
He needs the whole interior for his extended one-on-one dribbling escapades, which pushes Kessler out of rebounding position and makes Lauri stand around on the perimeter to space the floor. When it sometimes works, he looks like MJ... but most of the times it won't, and he kills the whole offense.
Don't be fooled. Don't think you're smarter than the entire league. There's a reason why Dunn was a #5 pick but fell out of the league. He's a gigantic bust, one of the worst of the last 20 years.
Realistically, he's a 9th man on a good team. If you just use him for 5 to 10 minutes per game to get a different look, I'm fine with him. But as an overdribbling PG who mainly looks for his own shot? GTFO.

20 mpg defensive specialist off the bench. We needed that the past three years. We’ll need it shortly, because we’re arriving ahead of schedule, so lock him up.

He's not a defensive specialist. Defensive specialists are very good at defense.
Dunn is a ballhawk who won't stay between his man and the basket. That's very different. His teammates pay for his risk-taking.
I'd be cool with rest of the year + nom guaranteed for next year with an end of camp cut date

I wouldn't be adverse to this. Give him a chance to breath, get some more time with the team and see if Hardy can get him to settle a bit on defense. He's also got a useful 3 point shot. Worst case, he can be used to help match salary with a non-guaranteed deal. If dude's amenable it, then sure, why not?

Why would we sign this guy to a minimum deal when we could sign Trent Forrest to a minimum and see if he could develop into a player similar to but not as good as Dunn? Don’t take shortcuts!
