Koontz older books were very repetitive and seemed to all be way to similar. However his books for the last decade or so are much better and easier to read than King. I just finished the 3rd Odd Thomas book and it was Okay. The 1st one was very good as well as the 2nd.
 
Deron Williams traded thread. Pretty long and extremely up and down. I thought the Borat scenes were going to end in suicide for sure. The Devin Harris character was non-existent for being such a huge piece. I guess there was no room for him with all the dead characters resurrected unnecessarily, but I guess that's what a chip on an author's shoulder will get you. Capitulation in the end with a big blah.

The weird thing is it was a pretty good book for being so terribly written.

Ooh, I also read Influencer: The Power to Change Anything as a requirement of sorts. Now, my big plan is to quickly change all of you gay (Unless you are, of course. In that case I'll turn you straight.). Boom Bitches for the ages.
 
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to franklin again.

Yeah it seems like he kind of got lost on Odd Thomas after book 2, still a fun read though.

I really like his Frankenstein books.

I love baseball and when this book was all the rage I gave it a read. Overall it was entertaining and I think it opened a lot of GM's minds to using On Base Percentage as more of a factor in determining free agents. However, I think it started a bad trend of some of the GM's overdoing it when it came to using obscure statistics to determine players' worth (JP Riccardi ?). Keep it simple on offense, AVG, OBP, RBI's, HR's, OPS. None of this percentage of times player A hits the ball with X amount of force to zone Y.

I also read somewhere that Billy Beane did not appreciate the way he was portrayed in the book.

Believe it or not, I was at that game. I was a big fan of Bo Jackson back when I was younger and my dad surprised me with tickets to see Nolan Ryan pitch against Bo. I have the ticket stubs and the next days newspaper clippings. One in a million chance, and it was awesome.
 
I'm re-reading Bret Easton Ellis' "Lunar Park" and "Glamorama." If you like surreal fiction where the narrator knows less about his situation than the reader, these books are for you.

Anyone read Jonathan Franzen? He wrote "The Corrections," which I haven't read, but I was referred by a friend to read "Freedom." Just bought it today. It's a big boy, 550 pp or so.
 
Anyone else read steampunk? I just finished, The Bookman, and I enjoyed it.

The next book I'm going to start is called, The Court of the Air (a 3 book series and is steampunk). It's said to be a book that would be written by guys like Charles Dickens and Jack Vance. Hopefully it will be good and a bit easier and less boring that Charles Dickens.
