Why do you say that? You don’t think domestic labor doesn’t want jobs?

If the companies only had American citizens to offer these jobs what would happen? The companies would have to increase the wages to entice domestic workers or look at more automation.

Instead they:
“They came to us for one reason: they were looking for ways to find out how to work,” Casey Rollins, executive director of the St Vincent de Paul Society’s Springfield chapter, said of those who came to the Ohio city from Haiti.
“So we got together immigration lawyers and interpreters to figure out how to help them work. We are getting them online and getting them to apply [for work permits]. We wanted workers here [in Springfield] – they want to work.”

The city looked at cheap labor from other countries. Now it’s created an infrastructure mess and it’s not fair to Haitians, who also want to work, to be thrown into this political and economic mess.

It should be remembered that earlier this week Donald and Vance were asked about plans that potentially could help towns like Springfield. Trump was asked about healthcare. He responded with, “I have concepts for a plan.” This shouldn’t be acceptable to any thinking american. He’s been running for president longer than anyone in history.

JD Vance’s response to child care was… well… you be the judge.

They don't want the jobs in question. Minimum wage in Ohio is $10.45. I'd be hard pressed to believe that any of the jobs Haitians are currently holding pay much more than that.

Look, we can discuss supply and demand and the question of how high minimum wage can be and all those other economic issues, but we both know that's not what's going on here.

Ever since the rise of Trump in 2016 primaries, we've heard enough from his base to know what they want and what they don't want. I'm talking here primarily about white men without college education outside of large urban areas.

They want wages that normally require college education without having college education, or wanting to pursue it. They don't want "women's" jobs, even though the inverted population pyramid means those jobs are becoming an increasingly larger chunk of all jobs. They don't want to be retrained or learn new skills, especially if they involved new-ish technology. They don't want to move to where the jobs are, even though by definition a recent ancestor must've moved to what is now Rust Belt back when it wasn't the Rust Belt.

This is why they vote Trump, because he promises them a return to 1970 and the way things were then. They just don't want the kind of jobs that exist in 2024.

What promises did Trump make to retired aged white Males?

I need specifics. What jobs are going to be created for these old white folks or how he is going to bar minorities from apply to jobs that these retired whites are not applying to.

Or are you talking about removing illegal aliens from the country rather than give them all amnesty?

If you’re going to talk about that, then that benefits all American minorities and white working aged men.

So please layout all the promises that Trump has made to benefit only white retired aged men, who are the only ones who know how the 1970’s are.

It’s about Economics, not race. If you think this real situation in Springfield is anything but an economic one then we can’t have an honest debate. You glossed over that and went straight to race. Even though Springfield is 17% black, obviously more now, and this move hurts American minorities as well.

It should also be noted that non-white working class voters voted overwhelmingly for Democrats in both 2016 and 2020. It’s non-college educated whites and white working class voters who voted for Trump In that same time period. In fact, Democrats have lost this same demo since even before Clinton. I do not believe economic anxiety is the primary motive in their attraction to Trump. Time after time, study after study, shows that it’s cultural and social anxiety. They don’t resent their economic situation, they resent that their social status and cultural hegemony is at an end. Clinton was deemed “America’s first African American president.” Democrats were seen as allied with African Americans while Pat Buchanan and Republicans hyperfocused on making uneducated whites their base. They succeeded.

It’s why they became so activated in 2009, when an actual African American became
President. And it also explains why, no matter how little Trump accomplishes economically for them, they see him as their vengeance. His rhetoric makes them feel good. He gives them permission to be their worst selves while claiming to be victims. This is the same strategy used in the late 19th century to thwart reconstruction. It led to Jim Crow because no matter how poor a white persona was, at least they’d feel culturally superior to any African American.

LBJ had these guys pegged decades ago:

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

And you seriously need me to go google examples of Trump promising to revive manufacturing, mining, etc?

Come on, let's not insult each other's intelligence here. You know exactly what I'm talking about. You may not agree, but you know I'm not talking about retired men in their 70s or race as divorced from class and economics. Give me a little bit of credit, I'm not exactly new on this forum.

The jobs in question are not jobs the locals want. The locals who are 86% white, according to the 2010 census of the Clark County.

It’s all about infrastructure; dumping 20k of people in a town of 60k for “jobs” hurts this town. Schools don’t have the resources, limited low income housing and medical facilities that can’t keep up are the issues that arise. He is correct the media doesn’t care about these issues.

I know Springfield well, grew up 30 mins away. Not the nicest town in Ohio, had a friend get shot in a drive by there. So it already had issues, like poverty. If that town had 20k jobs available, Dayton is 25 miles away and has about 800k in the metro; they could have attracted many people from the metro with those jobs.

IKamala must own a huge minivan to personally dump 20k people somewhere. In fact they came in over a 3-5 year period. I love how they make it sound like Kamala showed up one day with 20k immigrants in her car, kicked them out, and drove off flipping everyone the bird screaming "good luck, suckers!"

You’re always going to be playing whack a mole with these posters. No matter what studies, books, videos, evidence you use, they’ll always have another excuse, justification, and reason to whitewash Trump or blame the other side. Daily they move on to justify and excuse the next Trump outrage while always maintaining innocence.

Did I State it was Kamala? Did I state it was a car? Yes 20k came in a 3-4 year period.

Did this town of 58k handle an influx of 1/3 population growth in 3 years?

So do you agree that foreign workers should be prioritized over domestic labor?
