What's new

Joe Ingles

His role is sorted. You just need to accept it. As for the 2nd unit, it has both good and bad moments. But I think having to rely even more on Bradley after the Davis injury is hurting us.

Mudiay is playing really well. I'm fine with the ball being in his hands as much as it has been.

Joe will be fine once he finds his way out of this slump. One change Quin needs to make imo is to play the Conley-Mitchell-Ingles-Bogdanovic-Gobert lineup more often.

The bench should be better once Ingles breaks out of the slump, and we get Davis and Exum back. I do think we need one more consistent offensive weapon off the bench. Probably at the 4. Niang is not it. And while I think Green does bring value to the roster, he's a little too inconsistent for the amount of minutes he gets. It would be better for us if Green was a deep bench situational/matchup piece.

And that change is best facilitated by starting Joe. He needs to play with the best players. His role is that he’s kind of like a catalyst to make a reaction happen, or make everyone else better, but the guys he’s playing with on the bench aren’t those guys...

Idk. I feel like it could be done by just staggering the rotations a little better. Royce O'neale is playing very well with starters too. Moving him to the bench would make me nervous because we'd need him to become more of a shot taker/creator. I'd rather have Joe at his current 13.4% usage and Royce at his current 8.4% usage than the other way around.

He doesn't have anyone to run pick and roll with in the second unit. Not only is he a great facilitator in p and r but he also got a ton of easy layups out of it, which I believe helped his confidence and got him into a rhythm offensively. Another thing I've noticed is that he doesn't have anyone in the second unit to set him up with catch and shoot 3's so he's having to take a lot more off the bounce 3's, which has never been his strength as a shooter.

I also think it would help to have more consistent minutes. One game he plays 32 minutes and closes the game and the next he only plays 18 and gets taken out with 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter and never put back in again.

Even though I’m the initiator of the “start Royce” squad, I have to admit that I’m gravitating to this position more each game.

I was on the fence and saw both sides of the argument, but this sucks. Being in rhythm is about offense. A guy who primarily is a defender doesn’t need a rhythm in the same way, so I’m ready to move on. Quin is almost as rigid and stubborn as DL, though.

(in my defense, I started my campaign before we acquired Bojan. I still think there’s some clear sense in starting Royce, but Joe obviously isn’t being maximized.)
