I looked and didn't see another thread about him.

How good can he be? He posted 12 points (3-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT), seven rebounds, an assist and a block over 26 minutes last week against the Suns. He also had the fourth fastest lane agility time ever at the draft combine. Not bad for a 6'9" dude.

What does his future hold?

Probably better than DL thought as he traded back. Obviously not too worried over someone grabbing him before the Jazz pick.

Perhaps a Millsap-type pick. Not saying he'll become Paul. But Millsap was drafted for his rebounding and energy. I said Bolomboy is comparable to what Paul brought his first couple of years. Joel could definitely develop into Utah's 4th big.

The only thing is I don't think he'll get the minutes Paul did his first couple years (18, 21) to develop.
As a rookie its hard coming in for only 5-10 minutes a game. You want to impress so play outside your game, forcing things.

Bolomboy will greatly benefit from the Stars being local. He'll get plenty of PT in the D-League, but he can still work with the Jazz coaches.

Everyone laughed at me when I said I saw a lot of potential in him during summer league ... guess I'm getting the last laughs.

I like him but I think last laughs are still a long ways from now. He has physical attributes that may allow him a chance to be a real NBA player, which is obviously quite a find that low in the draft. He could also be Jeremy Evans like in that he puts up numbers does some cool things but never really has a big impact.

Can he play small ball 5?

I don't believe Evans ever put up numbers. He was athletic but that was about it. Even in college he couldn't rebound. That's a significant advantage over Evans that Bolomboy has. I'm also assuming he's a lot tougher/stronger.

Jeremy has the body type that is hard to put weight on.
