John Stockton NBA Finals highlights -- just because

Title could be "Would give and go work for Kanter/Favors and Trey Burke?" And it would be a good one too. Does Burke have enough balls to do the things Stockton have done on the court considering he already has the fundamental and the basketball IQ? Can he orchestrate the whole act, or is he the Iverson kind that shoots it when he sees it? Can Kanter move well enough like Malone did? I know Favors can. But Jazz need Kanter move around more than Favors, if Enes will be the one to deliver the new age mails from mid-range. Having 2 good young big-men that promise a lot will definitely help Burke to widen his options on the floor, but it looks like the productivity will mostly depend on him. Sloan is back so he might advice this give & go movement to Ty.

Amazing how he could make mediocre guys like foster look good. It would be interesting to compare guys fg% while they were playing with John against playing with another pg.

As great as Stockton was he missed wide open A. Carr under the basket during last seconds of last game in the 98 Finals. One more assist and we would have game 7...
But at the end of the day it should never come to that last possession. Thanks to Dick B. there was 5 pts swing in favor to Chicago which should have never happened.

I hope Trey Burke and Ty Corbin are watching this...

people, you know how many thousands of PG's watched that and none of them turned into something even close to Stockton? Lets do not have unrealistic expectations. Plus game changed from 1997-98 - at that time there was no zone defense. Let Burke be Burke.

Reminds me of what an incredible shooter Hornacek was. One of the greatest all-time.

Everyone focuses on the push-off but this is the real travesty as it's not subjective.

The Eisley 3 that was waived and the Ron Harper 2 that should not have counted. those two calls are seared into my memory.

And seared into Dickie B's bank account.

Great video, but it somewhat hurts to watch. Knowing how badly we played in game 3 of the 98 finals. Not to mention the refs. Great video its just the definition of bittersweet to think about the 97-98 finals, especially the 98 finals

Don't tell me Stockton couldn't play in today's NBA. He's shredding the Bulls' perimeter defense.

I know these are highlights, but he's making near perfect reads on every possession and executing flawlessly.

Watching these videos make me realize how much the dribbling style evolved in time. Even Stockton can be considered as an old school dribbler compared to today's style. Today's dribbling would be called for travelling in the 70ies.

Defenses were not nearly as sophisticated back then (I know zone was illegal, but some of the defensive plays here would make Tom Tibbs wake himself up screaming).

The other interesting thing is how Stock is essentially an assassin. Few of these are flashy. Few even look that hard because of how smoothly they occur. All are incredibly lethal.
