A video that says "Big pharma REALLY doesn't want this to get out. They are going to Extreme Measures to keep this cover-up going and continue their life threatening disinformation campaign" is an anti-vax video. The site that posts it is an anti-vax site. You are an anti-vax conspiracy theorist, and you contribute to actual human deaths and disease. If I had my way you would be charged as an accomplice to murder and I'd lock your *** up.

Stay in your house as close to 24/7 as possible. Follow simple protocols one of which was to wear a ****ing mask whenever out. Jesus, I’m not even gonna go on.

As I understand it, South Korea used cell phone data to do an extreme and extremely effective tracking of Covid from the outset. They got ahead of the spread.
I suspect our politicians didn't want to do that, on either side of the main stream, not even either extreme. It was not something we would accept.
It was NOT the general edict on face mask and isolation of everyone.
So, in general, more information is generally better than less, and screaming insults is just going nowhere.
I will listen to what people are saying regardless of point of view, but looking for any possible basis for the opinion/view that appears in any way credible. I don't claim to know much....... but I talk a lot......
I've considered doing a news/opinion aggregator site to make it easy to get the drift of various issues and what information people are using.
I think it's fair to imagine the site is anti-vax, and it clearly pushes the factual bias of other media as a calling card for it's own "credibility". Anyone who believes there is no institutional or media bias today just wants to believe it's good to claim stuff that's not true.
In science, there's always been an "established" or "consensus" view that is at stake with new research. Used to be, it was considered good to question things.
But you really had to have facts to change the view.
This kind of comments re csf in his thread are unacceptable.
I believe he found a John Stockton quote in a bona fide anti-vax/other issues site that is clearly not favored by either the government bureaucrat institutions nor the democratic party nor the mainstream media.
I listened to John Stockton's comments, which seemed to me to be fairly general remarks in favor of opening up from the pandemic rules and getting back to more normal life, mainly taking issue with the specific need for some public health measures.
And while the medical institutions and pharmaceutical companies seem to get breaks they really should not be getting, the facts with vaccines cannot really be just dissed. Vaccines are a cost/benefit calculation, with general public health the big benefit. The cost is the people who experience problems with them. On the money side, it's a huge profit center for the medical providers and manufacturers and a cost to the general citizen in taxes or public debt.
I have worked close to the subject, close enough to just know that some research is fraudulent, some claims unjustified.
It is actually impossible to create a zero risk vaccine. What may be OK for a vast majority can and does seriously affect a few in negative ways we just can't see in advance. We try. We really try. But we're never 100%. We test to evaluate the safety of a vaccine, and that is why it normally takes years to get one approved for use. We sorta skipped a lot of that, to some extent at least, because the risk or downside of not having a vaccine for covid was exceptional. It was a cost/benefit calculation.
I think we have some good vaccines, and I'm not telling anyone not to get them.
But I still read anti-vax material because it's important to understand people before you try to change them.
I think, overall, that the antivax site exploited John Stockton by invoking his credibility, but if you just look at what he said, I think it's OK. Maybe not absolutely OK. But certainly not intended convince people to disregard public health measures, maybe more of call for those in charge to try to address reasonable questions and concerns.
I agree it's time we opened up in a careful way.

A few things.
1. Staying in your house 24/7 is not simple for a good majority of the population.
2. Not a lot of evidence that masks do much of anything at all. Unless they are N95 but not many people have access to those. Walk around and 95% of people wearing masks aren't even close to wearing them correctly. Now I'm no anti masker, I wear mine all the time, not a big deal. But there is little to no evidence they are actually helping curb covid
3. Look at the recent study comparing Florida's do whatever you want, wherever you want, whenever you want and California's shut everything down, no school, no gatherings, no work, etc .... and they have almost the exact same cases per 100k and same deaths per 100k. So what does that tell us?
I think the data and science is pointing more and more to let people live their lives, old and sick people do your best to stay away from everyone, and lets hope like hell the vaccine works as intended.
