I agree, and maybe biasedly think that Keyonte most represents what the award is all about. However, voters will clearly have their own criteria and I'm sure some will see Rollins as the MIP.

Idk. I think each voter gets 3 votes? I don't see many voting for anyone outside of Duren/Jalen/Deni/Reaves/Keyonte

I've heard Rollins name in any national NBA pod that's talked about MIP. I'm not sure how representative they are to the voters, but there is clearly a narrative for him right now.
 
Nothing not fixable, just really low effort here and there. Like not getting his arms up, lackadaisical close outs, getting turned around on a ja morant crossover and losing all will to live

George is a good player and I think he's got what it's needed to contribute on D at clutch moments.
He's a good asset to have. We'll see if our brass somehow evolves and find ways to use the good asset in a proper way...

Ok, but my point with the post is that in his 3rd year- Keyonte's stats are VERY similar to Donovan in his 3rd year. Donovan was a rare rookie to come right out of the gate producing at a high level- like Kon K in Charlotte this year...

Jalen Brunson was way behind in his developmental curve compared to Keyonte, but by 5th year took his big jump. So players develop on different curves. But I am seeing enough out of Keyonte right now to believe his ceiling may be way higher than we thought.

What's your point? We all understand that to be a great player he will have to improve on defense- but those I listed aren't all-stars because of their defense. At 22- Keyonte is currently top 20 in points/gm, top 11 in assists, top 11 in FT attempts, and top 5 in FT %. The youngest players above him are Anthony Edwards (24) and Cade Cunningham (24). All but two are all-stars and those two probably will be this year.

And the last two nights Keyonte led the team to wins over Detroit and San Antonio..... but yeah--- let's just focus on the one negative thing you can cling to. Is there some particular reason you are so desperate for Keyonte not to exceed any limitations that would disprove your early assessment of him?
 
Hard to evaluate defense on a tanking team with nurk / flip / love as rim deterrent. Our young guards are defending primary scorers / creators night in / night out too.

Meaningless games, offensive-minded HC, bad rim protectors, bad team defense.

There is a lot of "circumstancial evidence" that makes me wanna hold my judgement.
