Keyontae George progression watch this year

Mitchell led his team to postseason as a rookie being a national trend in the process.
Not fair to Key to use Don in the same conceptual breath methinks...

George is a good player and I think he's got what it's needed to contribute on D at clutch moments.
He's a good asset to have. We'll see if our brass somehow evolves and find ways to use the good asset in a proper way...

You are missing a pretty obvious conclusion: these individual stats are colored by noise from some other factor than individual defense. You’re sharing evidence that undermines your own whining about Keyonte.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

The defensive EPM is just another impact metric. This particular stat doesn't tell us who the "best" or "worst" defender in the league is (no such stat exists). It tells us a player's offensive/defensive/net impact within their own team.

Keyonte's individual offensive impact on the Jazz is well above average this season. The problem is that his individual defensive impact is the worst in the NBA. By a mile. That means that overall, he's still a negative player for the Jazz.

The eye test says Key is one of the worst guard defenders I've ever seen in the league and the stats bear it out.

No it doesn't. You're looking at "Estimated EPM", which is a prediction of what a player's defensive impact on their team will be in any given game based upon their entire career.

The pic you posted used entire career data, not just "this season".

The eye test? He isn't even getting targeted. We have no rim protection. Here is ACTUAL EPM, based on this season alone:

There's an easy conclusion to make here, and it isn't "WCJ, Collier, and Keyonte are all historically bad defenders."

It is "Playing most of your minutes with Kevin Love at center will wreck your team's defense."

I was watching the first half of tonight's game specifically following k love on defense.
Holy crap. He gives less effort than luka. Like doesn't even put his arms up lol.

Keyonte at 45/37/91 splits. His 3pt % has been skyrocketing since the rough early season shooting. Shooting 44% from 3 in 11 December games.

Would be crazy if Keyonte has a 50/40/90 season at some point.
