Keyontae George progression watch this year

Really important not to overpay him next summer.
water's wet. nobody should ever overpay anybody. like, it's always a bad idea to pay somebody more than they are worth.

but in terms of what the jazz pay him, let's allow him to finish out the season and see what what we think he's worth. we're 13 games into his third season. let's allow things to play out a bit.

yup. i'd still like to see his TS% in the 58-59 range. he's close, but his threes need to start falling.

I just did the math and if Keyonte was shooting his normal 3pt% (34%) then his TS% would be 59.7% instead of his 56.7%. 56.7% isn't horrible for his usage and puts him in the range of Giddey, Siakam, Cade, and Banchero.

If you look at guys with >25% usage and ~60%TS% you are looking at guys like Brunson, Brown, Murray, and Maxey.

Now obviously he has to increase his 3pt% to career averages while maintaining his FTr and %, but I guess my point is that he's not far off elite levels for scoring guards and still just barely 22yo.

Some posters can just never accept happiness. Oh a player is playing good, let's complain he will get paid too much. Player is playing bad, they suck and the Jazz have no future

I’m not really worried about his 3 ball. It would be really odd if he had such a major drop off….even if he shot this poorly for like an entire year I’d expect him to rebound back to his prior levels.

Maintaining his performance at the rim+FTr is key. He's had crazy jumps there and it’s what’s keeping his efficiency up despite the bad shooting.

I think his playmaking and floor game has improved….but higher assist counts likely due to simply having the ball more.

Defensively….better effort but I just don’t think it’s in the cards for him to be good or even average. Getting out of the bottom 10-20 defender percentile would be great for his career though. I don’t think he’s crossed that line yet.

His efficiency is progressing well IMO. I think his shot will return to form and I've been pleased with his where his offensive game is going. For me, the bigger problem is that his defense is still very bad.

Indeed. Keyonte still has way too many brain farts in team D, but in year 3, it's much more worrying that he keeps quitting on plays where he needs to chase the ball or a player. He doesn't fight hard through screens and regularly is like "I'm confused and lost my guy, and now it's probably too late to do anything about it anyway so I'll just stand here and not guard anyone".
