Knicks really dodged a bullet not bringing local golden boy Mitchell back to the Big Apple. Sure he had another sub-par game with - 5/18 shooting and six turnovers, but he’s shown he’s a very capable offensive player in the right situation. But pairing Mitchell with Brunson at the possible expense of Barrett, who’s been huge for them would have been disastrous imo. Even paired with Garland (more athletic than Brunson) just too little in today’s NBA. Hart is the perfect player to compliment Brunson in New York’s backcourt!
For me, as a fan, I’ll always root for guys like Mitchell, Gobert and Conley, but watching them perform for other teams only confirms my contention at the time that they are both flawed Superstars that the Jazz needed to move off from. Somehow Ryan Smith must’ve read the memo (actually a likeminded article that our window was closing) hired Danny Angel and the rest is history.
And considering how close the Jazz came to missing that window, I’d say the Knicks aren’t the only ones that dodged a bullet! Excited for next season - Go Jazz!!!
