Allen played a ton early, Quin gave him the opportunity to play, and Allen showed he wasn’t ready. Quin even said “if you play defense, you’ll play, if not you won’t play” and Allen’s defense was painfully bad, and was hurting the team. Royce is an example as he played as a rookie because his defense was very good. If Allen was playing for the hawks, he’d probably be playing.
the bolded is just patently false and pure fiction, WTF are you talking about? go look at his game log. the most minutes he played were even based on circumstance - he played 27 min against memphis on 11/2 b/c donovan was out, then played 21 min against dallas on 11/14 b/c the whole team played like *** and got blown out. other than that, his minutes have been very irregular/sparse and 90% in garbage time. on a team with less guards/wings or a team not fighting for the playoffs, he'd be getting 15-20+ minutes a game easy regardless of his defense. He'll be better long term for it to compete and learn defense, but to say he got a ton of time early is just lies.
