What's new

Lakers-Jazz Trade

Smart move by the Lakers. They know those picks are gold value and they aren't going to give it up for bronze level players.

Lebron signed cuz he wants to be in LA, not because he has to win rings. Maybe Russ has humbled himself and plays more within the team next year without actually self admitting that is happening.

If we didn’t move anyone else we could get to 63.3M in cap space next offseason. We have room to take a bad contract or two.
Good, they can use that to sign more good players or save it til 24 to sign even more good players.

I'm not taking 4 years worth of *** for a late first.

Just give me Shamet and one pick. I'm ok with that.

I would take Robinson if it included Jovic + 2023 1st + a pick swap later on or for a 2028 or 2029 1st.

What do you mean? Isn’t his contract ****ing terrible?
Yeah, but simply freeing up 16 million dollars isn't changing anything about their ability to sign free agents anytime soon. They will probably look to dump him when he gets closer to his contract being expired.

And Duncan still has regular season value so it's not like he's completely useless dead salary to them.

This is not just a salary dump for them. They are getting a perfect fit for their team where they have a gaping hole after Tucker left. He is the perfect win-now piece for them.

They desperately need to get off his deal if they are bringing back Herro or Strus. They will be in mega tax next season and have generally never been in the tax... combined with the cruise industry getting destroyed right now I'm guessing a salary or player dump is coming for them in the next 12 months.

That Pat Bev trade was trash by us.
If our goal is to get space for next year and picks then I have no idea why we did that deal. The timing was also really weird.

Windy on the pod seemed like it was a 50/50 type proposition on whether or not they trade Westbrook. He was presenting the "maybe they will keep him" as a bit of a counterpoint. He started off saying the Westbrook Bev stuff was performative and he wasn't buying it.

Trust me if they keep that team together it will be a disaster... the first rough 5 game patch they have it will be super drama... go ahead and pivot on the fly during the season if you want... but it will be crazy tough to close space if you get off to a rough start.

I'm here for it either way... Lakers being a train wreck is really fun for me.
