Last game of the season -- Jazz @ Blazers 4/11/2018 8:30 pm MST

Outcoached? Seriously? That hot take is about as bad as any I’ve heard. Keep your keyboard coaching to yourself and Quin will continue being one of the best coaches in the NBA every night. Quin did not get outcoached, the team had a horrible night while Lillard was hitting ridiculous shots. Sometimes you just lose games. The Jazz players looked tired, out of sorts, and couldn’t hit anything last night. Boo hoo, that doesn’t mean Quin was outcoached, that just means **** happens sometimes. It pisses me off because saying Quin was outcoached is seriously one of the worst arguments anyone could use on basically every game. Quin is not a coach that gets outcoached, his team can sure as **** get out-shot and outplayed on a night nothing’s falling though.
Well, the Jazz certainly got out-punked. The Blazers were kicking their *** and Crowder was the only who tried to get back at them. Lillard slapped Ricky in the face, no call. McCollum punched or elbowed Donovan in the gut -- no call, though I only saw it on the replay and it was in the middle of paint, so probably hard to see, but it was there on the replay from that camera angle. We need to retaliate next time we play them and show them we aren't pussees like in the Hayward and AK days. We need some Mailman enforcement.

Yes, the Jazz didnt care about winning a meaningless game on the back end of a back to back to end the season. There is nothing more to read into this. They were tired and had nothing to play for.
Who said they didn't care. They didn't step up to the physicality for whatever reason. Maybe home court didn't mean that much, considering there were playing OKC win or lose.

The coach said they had nothing to play for and it was very obvious that the players were not putting in a full effort.

Its also just common sense that if you are playing a completely meaningless game that you are not going to put in the same effort.

But you don't back down when the opponent is overly aggressive.

You do when you dont care about the game and dont want to get hurt. You are looking to the playoffs as your priority.

This team has no problem with getting physical and playing hard. Its silly to say otherwise with our level of defense and even more silly to claim the coach did a poor job because he didnt tell them to "play more physical" as you claim.

And yes I didnt read all of your first post. I couldnt make it past where you claimed Snyder was out coached and didnt tell the players to be more physical as your reason for that. But know I just read the rest of it and you made no other point besides they got away with some hard fouls and we didnt hard foul them back.

So, Ron, were you a basketball player? Just because Quin said it was a meaningless game doesn't mean it was -- you think home court is meaningless in the playoffs -- history shows it isn't. Quin was just making excuses because the Jazz didn't step up like they should have. If you're playing and someone gets physical, you don't do a Hayward and turn the other cheek. You get in their grill and give at least as much as they gave to you.

It's really hard to step up your physicality when you get called for fouls every time there is any contact. The refs called about 6 fouls on the Jazz when they had good position and hands straight up. Meanwhile on the other end Portland was hacking and fouling and not getting called. I hate blaming the refs but the black ref with the bald head did not call anything for the Jazz and was calling every little contact for Portland. Personally I think he had a bet on the game and didn't want to lose. That said the Jazz didn't adjust well to the contact Portland was bringing. If your going to get called for a foul on contact at least make the other team feel it. The Jazz definitely played a little soft, but the officials had a bit to do with that. Hopefully Quin can use it as a learning experience so Rubio and Mitchell can learn what playoff basketball is going to be like.

Yes, I have played basketball. No, I have not played in the NBA and neither have you. When you play competitive sports and the game is meaningless its hard to play hard. It might be important to you that the Jazz got the 3rd seed but it wasnt to the players or coaches. They were looking to OKC.

The team mentioned before the game that home court didnt matter to them. So it was not an excuse after.

As for the rest of your argument, no. If someone is hard fouling the solution isnt to hard foul back that just silly. Yes the team should play harder and will when the games matter.

By teasing you has nothing to do with the Jazz not playing hard its that you claim Snyder was out coached because he didnt tell them to play hard. We didnt play hard, the team was tired and had nothing to win. When the game is meaningless its hard to play hard when you are tired and looking to the future. I have no problem with the Jazz tanking that game. 3rd seed would have been cool but meaningless.

I don't buy that argument. Meaningless or not, somebody punks me, I give it back. That's just the nature of competition. And in the NBA, the level of competition is a lot more intense than whatever level we played.

You know something, I attended a Jazz game when that guy reffed and I felt he did the same thing that game. I remember Alec getting mauled on a drive to the hoop and he was the ref in position to call it but didn't. This was in Indiana, a couple of years ago. But you do have to admit, the Blazers did come out very aggressively and kind of surprised the Jazz with it.
