What's new

Last game of the season -- Jazz @ Blazers 4/11/2018 8:30 pm MST

They mugged Mitchell the whole game. Apparently just enough to not get called for fouls. Mitchell says he finally figured it out but not until the fourth quarter. This will prove to be good preparation for how Thunder will try to work him.

I love that he doesn't complain during the game, but it makes it tough for me to figure out when he is getting fouled and when he isn't.

The refs were **** last night... flat out. May have not been the difference, but things like that can swing a game. When he got mugged and Wade freaking Baldwin gets the soft And1 its a big swing.

It was a much more comprehensive loss than the final score indicates. They killed us .. physical on every play and clogged the paint. No room to move and we were getting pushed and shoved and hacked Good prep for the playoffs, far more valuable than a cushy win would have been.

This. We have guys with playoff experience, but our leading scorer and starting point guard has zero. This was a great opportunity to learn, and I don't think saying that is mere weak silver-lining wishing.

Need a tampon bro? Good gawd can you separate him being outcoached one game from his whole season. Or do you think he is so amazing that he never makes mistakes?

Outcoached? Seriously? That hot take is about as bad as any I’ve heard. Keep your keyboard coaching to yourself and Quin will continue being one of the best coaches in the NBA every night. Quin did not get outcoached, the team had a horrible night while Lillard was hitting ridiculous shots. Sometimes you just lose games. The Jazz players looked tired, out of sorts, and couldn’t hit anything last night. Boo hoo, that doesn’t mean Quin was outcoached, that just means **** happens sometimes. It pisses me off because saying Quin was outcoached is seriously one of the worst arguments anyone could use on basically every game. Quin is not a coach that gets outcoached, his team can sure as **** get out-shot and outplayed on a night nothing’s falling though.

Donovan was getting mugged and Lillard was getting touch fouls. This isn’t going to change against OKC, it may get worse. I am very interested to see how he reacts. I don’t think fans should be suprised if the first game or two are very tough on Donovan, he’s not going to get calls and he’s gonna get pushed, grabbed, held, and pressured like never before. He’ll adjust, but it may be a rough for a minute.

Well, its tough when Exum gets called for a foul for stonewalling and playing perfect D on Lillard. Honestly, that was one of the worst calls ever imo. Completely cut off Lillard, took away his lane, Had both arms straight in the air, and didn't lean in whatsoever, but Lillard, so foul... Neto really didn't play all that much, and nobody else could do anything on offense, so might as well give it a try. As far as Rudy... Lillard was on fire, made great passes, and Nurcic made some tough contested layups. Jazz offense struggles when outside shots aren't falling, and has all season. They have gotten away with it a lot because their defense is so good, but last night the Blazers played well, and made some tough shots, also any time the Jazz would try to get anything going, the refs would swallow their whistle on a Jazz drive, leading to a transition basket for the Blazers, or call a weak, or flat out bad call against the Jazz.

I hope there's a discussion about playoff officiating. If that whistle doesn't blow forget everything and get back. Seemed like the whole team would freeze just long enough for a transition bucket the other way, and it happened multiple times.

Yup... one thing I have noticed with DM is he kind of struggles his first game in new situations and then corrects it for next game. Hopefully he can chill a bit the first half if other guys are scoring... kind of feel the game out.

I thought the refs last night were exceptionally inconsistent on what they allowed them to do... I don't expect it to be that bad, but who knows. The LAC got so many calls last year... it nearly killed me.

Yeah. I try really hard not to make it about officiating, but they didn't seem to be calling it both ways, and Mitchell received zero respect. Harden would've shot about 8 more free throws last night with the same contact Mitchell received.

It'll be good for Mitchell to learn from this. One of the best things about him is he's like Syndrome verses the Incredibles. He quickly learns from the opponent and makes adjustments for next time.

I do think DM will be on the other side of that equation at some point... he's that type of guy.

It wasn't just DM last night... Ingles got some BS and Rudy got cross body blocked under the hoop by a rookie... no call. Ed Davis literally stabbed someone with a Trident (he will need to lay low for a while). On the other end it was touch fouls, and on missed shots they would call small pushes... kinda sad.

Well, what adjustments do you think Quin made midgame? That was a playoff game last night where Quin didn't change his game plan. That doesn't mean he is a bad coach. Midway through the game the defense was smothering Lillard with Exum and O'Neal. Then he went away from it because they weren't scoring.

Just because he is great most nights doesn't mean he is infallible. If you think that then your Jazz colored glasses checked. Quin also played our players too much in the GS game. Rudy was definitely a step slow. Hopefully, he makes adjustments because in a seven game series we should have an advantage verses Billy Donavon.

Like my Hayward talk? Ok, you want Hayward back?

Yes Hayward is a good player and would help this team. Obviously there is some bad blood but Jazz are in need of a player exactly like Hayward to take the next step. A solid shooting wing who can create and play defense.

But keep on going about how Burks is the answer to us being good. That troll post never gets old from you.
