I think the Riley experiment has gone on far enough. He just doesn't have a DIV 1 arm. He's not a QB.
Besides, it's not as if this season was going to be great. No one in Utah felt like BYU was going to be that great this year. Not after losing Hall, Pitta, and the back breaker was Unga. Might as well go through the growing pains now and play Heaps and then reap the benefits later. Instead, all BYU is going through is pain (without the future benefit).
I think BYU is playing the political game to an extent as well. Riley has a stud brother playing for Logan High right now. Plus, they don't want to discourage other players from transferring after their missions. They may also be waiting until after FSU before they put Heaps in full time.
But IMO, they should have been working Riley out for a long time at other positions. Maybe even since spring time they should have been trying him out at safety or RB or something. Since Heaps signed he was labeled to be "The Chosen One." Might as well play him.
Sorry I wasn't up. Slept soundly. Didn't know WCC even played football. You sure about that? Speaking of bball, Utah surely won't be slapped around by BYU again this year, right?Hey guyz. Cant sleep. Anybody wanna talk some WCC football? Portland is looking strong this year. Anybody awake?
Many solid points. With the loss of personel this team suffered, anybody who figured BYU was good for 10+ wins this season is simply a blind homer.
Why can't Bronco just sack up and name Heaps the starter? What is so hard/scary about that? If I was a BYU fan, I'd be livid right now.
I think that's the root of the problem with the team and the fan base, you guys can't find your Oscar Meyar's.Bronco is an OK coach but if BYU ever wants to be taken seriously on the national stage they need to get a new coach. Bronco is not the man. He is to BYU what McBride was to Utah. A decent coach to help bring the program back up from the basement but if you want keep moving up you need to find a Meyer.
Well BYU has to fork out the cash and pay a Meyer if they want one. They let Utah outbid them for Whitt, and that was before Utah started paying him BCS caliber money, so there is nothing to make me think BYU would pay for a top quality coach.Bronco is an OK coach but if BYU ever wants to be taken seriously on the national stage they need to get a new coach.
