This 40 day trip to Kentucky with my family has opened my eyes to things I would not have realized if we hadn't come. I considered myself a great husband and father prior to this trip.. and I'd like to think I was. However, I hadn't realized what a rut we were in. There are lots of good that comes from consistency and normalcy, but there are equal parts good about mixing things up, surprising the wife and kids with new places, cultures, and thought-provoking circumstances. Things outside their normal sphere of reality.. their environmentally created paradigm.
I vow to do this more often and to be challenging the minds of my family while broadening their perspectives.
