Marijuana: Facts, Myths, and plain old Stupidity.

This brought back memories of my first time smoking. Never laughed so hard in my life at the stupidest story my friend was telling me.

Actually, potheads do get it. That's why they tend to not drive too fast where any of that stuff impedes their driving. At least that is what the federal government study on the matter determined. And it's why I suspect nobody has ever heard of anyone smoking a joint and then getting in a massive car wreck caused by the weed.

I was simply addressing the fact that to me the issue was not "oh no he is using drugs" but rather that they don't get a pass when they break the rules, as so often happens for celebrities.

So in that case I don't really care what he does when he is "unemployed". Get high, whatever, knock yourself out. But if you get arrested for breaking the law, however silly one might think that law is, then I have no sympathy.

Exactly. Even potheads know that weed impairs their driving. Case closed.

This is another item I was going to bring up. As mentioned earlier in the thread, my own feelings are complex and I could possibly be persuaded that marijuana should be legalized. However, what I totally do not get are all of the people in the thread who are saying that they think laws against its use are stupid, and therefore they have no issue with using it themselves. There are LOTS of laws that I think are stupid, but that does not mean that I should be able to break them with impunity.

No, I actually think texting while driving is much worse than driving while high on pot. Conan agreeing that potheads make adjustments in order to prevent marijuana from making driving dangerous is case closed, as he admits. It's just case closed on the other side of the argument.

If you are able to make adjustments to make driving safe, then it is not impairing your driving (or making it more dangerous- which is what the debate was originally about).
