What's new

**** Matt Harpring

I sense a new thread.....**** buckner.

For real, Matt Harpring as Utah's color commentator is the worst thing that has ever happened to the Jazz franchise.

Worse than Raja Bell's return to Utah.

Worse than Deron being traded.

Worse than Sloan leaving.

I absolutely cannot handle one more fry sauce joke.

I cannot stand when he points how how good he is at reading ads.

Every game its the same 3 jokes over and over again.

If I ever have time to drive up to SLC for a game, I'm bringing a sign that says 'FIRE MATT'.

I understand it's hyperbole, but lighten up buddy. It's the freaking color commentator. Yet it seems to mentally effect you more than the game itself. I like Harpring, but even if I did not I would still find your obsession slightly sexual and intriguing - yet quite alarming at the same time.

Agreed. He cracks so many lame jokes and sayings it's hard to listen to without cringing. I will give him credit though, when he is actually talking about basketball he does a good job.

Ill take him over some announcers like the rockets. All they do is complain how badly the refs are screwing them.

Lived in 6 NBA cities and Harp is the best color commentator I have heard in a local market.
Agree. The fans living in Utah - and watching a local feed - don't have anything to compare Harpring with, well, other than Boone. Just watch a couple week's worth of games on League Pass, and you'll truly see how horrible some of the broadcasters are for other teams.

Locke is a great talk show host and knows his bball, even if I disagree with a lot of what he says.....he's knowledgeable and thought provoking.

However, as a play-by-play announcer, he's got one of the worst voices for it. Not to mention he seems sluggish when things happen rapidly.

I miss Hot Rod.

As for Harp, I find his commentary at the very worst decent and acceptable. IMO, he's much better than a lot of other NBA talent starved commentary out there. Not the greatest, but it could be much much worse.

He really just needs to stick to basketball.

He doesn't need to point out the fact that he read an Ad, and then ask how well he did-- because you know, he's a Rookie. This season I expect him to say "i'm not a rookie anymore" every game. And then maybe talk about fry sauce some more. Because Jazz Nation loves Fry Sauce.

I don't need a genius to broadcast games, just someone with a good voice. He has one and calls good, exciting games.

Give him that ... he's just got such homeristic hyperbole that he often lacks any objectivity. Most of the time it makes for great entertainment, other times I'm just like, **** up.

Are home team announcers supposed to be objective and not try and generate excitement targeted at Jazz fans? Serious question.

I think Harp got a little better towards the end of the season. It got to the point where I only had to use the mute button 6-7 times a game.
