What's new

Matthews: Jazz never made me an offer. I would have accepted less.

I just don't get why KOC chose to give players like Gaines and Jeffers a 2nd year non-guranteed at the team's discretion and didn't bother to do that for Matthews regardless of how we thought he would do last year.

Hahaha. If Gaines or Jeffers received an offer from another team for2X what they are worth the Jazz would let them go as well. They have the same type of contracts as Mathews had.

Love Wes, but sadly I don't think he'll do anything for a while. Hopefully i'm wrong.

You're right. And that'll be good for Jazz so they can give Wes a second contract at a good price and have him finish his career here. Here's to Raja lasting until then (just an 2 additional years).

Thank you for agreeing with me. I like your username because it is the car I, the rich commish, drive.

He will be missed. He was one of my favorite players, as I'm sure he was to many of you. The offer was ludicrous. Good for him, and I wish him the best of luck from here on out.
Don't be bitter with D-Will and Co. stomp you. =]

From Ross Siler vis Twitter:

"Kevin O'Connor usually chooses his words carefully but he was blunt in refuting idea that Jazz didn't try to make offer to Wesley Matthews".

"O'Connor told reporters to call Matthews' agent and ask what really happened behind scenes".

"Jazz felt there was little attempt to negotiate on Matthews' end".

Things actually happen "behind the scenes," that Jazzfanz aren't immediately informed of!? Like, who knew, I ax ya!? Does this mean that just because you aint privy to sumthin, it coulda happened anyway? Whooda thunk?
