Mehmet Okur to the Pistons?

Trading for a player to trade him later on is a recipe for disaster.

Cap space is for financial flexibility. Jazz would need it to fill depth if Hayward/Favors turn into stars, and to make a run at free agents down the line, or to take on a bigger contract with the salary space in a trade. Hamstringing yourself financially for Richard freakin' Hamilton just doesn't do it for me.

I agree with this. But Hayward and Favors are both still on there Rookie contracts until after Rips contract is up. Having him for 2 years really doesn't hurt us IMO because I don't see us being a contender for the next 2-3 years.

I have the general belief that if Utah was the only team that could've signed all three of Bosh, Wade, and Lebron, they would've signed here. You can speculate all you want about the peripheral reasons, but at the end of the day, they did what they did to win. Right now, the Jazz are in a situation where they can get an extremely young, talented, and cheap roster and have a ton of cap space in an offseason of their choosing where the worst-case is they continue on the rebuild.

Taking on salary to acquire more high picks is another advantage of having space to blow.

Cap space is good.

The end.

Except not at all. Superstars go to big markets not because they make a lot of money through their NBA contracts but because they get sponsorships and advertisements. D-Will in a Nets uniform already has more sponsorships and advertisements than the D-Will that was in a Jazz uniform.

The only way we get a superstar is if we draft a Kevin Durant.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but would you do Hamilton and #8 for Okur, Bell and #12???

I wouldn't. We take the worst contract and only move up 4 spots. Okur and Bell for Hamilton and #8 I would probably do. I would rather Hamilton and next years top 3 protected pick for Memo and Bell though.

If we traded for stucky it would make more sense, I was meaning trading up Okur for Hamilton, I think it would be a wash talent-wise, but there really isnt anything that would keep me from pulling the trigger. If they offered one of their most overpaid dancers for okur I would pull the trigger........ Ya know,,,,,,, thinking about it........... if they traded their wilted, old, retired, fat Joe Dumars I would pull the trigger. Damn...... this trade possibility is sounding better all the time.
