Trading for a player to trade him later on is a recipe for disaster.
Cap space is for financial flexibility. Jazz would need it to fill depth if Hayward/Favors turn into stars, and to make a run at free agents down the line, or to take on a bigger contract with the salary space in a trade. Hamstringing yourself financially for Richard freakin' Hamilton just doesn't do it for me.
I agree with this. But Hayward and Favors are both still on there Rookie contracts until after Rips contract is up. Having him for 2 years really doesn't hurt us IMO because I don't see us being a contender for the next 2-3 years.
