Millsap for Bledsoe?

I'd do it at the last second. But I'm not talking about a straight swap.

They want Sap. The talk is the Jazz might have to send back Burks along with Sap. I'd swap out Hayward for Burks in that scenario, but then try to steal the leverage back. But no matter what the final package looks like, I'd much rather give up Hayward to get Bledsoe than Burks.

No way we're letting go of Hayward. Did you see last night's game??

Millsap and a pick. Take it or we pick Burke in the draft.

How do you value Burks over Hayward? I'm genuinely curious--what's the thought process?

Burks is going to be the better pro. Hayward is not an all star caliber player and never will be. He's a 3rd option on offense, a great glue guy, a bit like AK. But Burks has a few rare NBA skills that are just starting to show themselves. He's going to be a great driver in this league and a much better scorer.

I hope your right about burks being great. But you are wrong about Hayward. Dude is good now. He at least be a 2x all star

So has everyone pretty much given up on this? I've been super excited the last few days, but with no new reports, Millsap at practice today after talking to Lindsey, etc. I'm starting to give up hope. But if Lindsey told Millsap he wasnt going anywhere why would he not tell everyone so I can get on with my life? Hahaha

Still have hope, but I"m prepared for the worst.

Is there a link to a reliable source claiming the Clips want Burks?.....and giving up Hayward is not an option. Dumb Dumb Dumb.

It was in an Insider article. I suspect it has to do with cap math.

A straight Millsap for Bledsoe/Butler has the Jazz take on an additional $1.1 million in salary for this season. If you put Burks and Turiaf in the deal it turns into a $200k take-on of salary for the Clippers instead.

I want Bledsoe. I’d be excited if we made the trade. However, I would not be too disappointed if we didn’t. I’m not positive that Bledsoe is my top choice for our future PG.

Should we stand pat at the deadline, our depth chart looks (…or should) like this the rest of the way:

PG: Williams/Burks/Tinsley
SG: Foye/Burks/Hayward
SF: Hayward/Carroll/Marvin
PF: Millsap/Favors/Marvin
C: Jefferson/Kanter/Favors

That team should cruise to the playoffs. Come this offseason, I’d like us to re-sign Sap, Mo, and Foye, and let Al walk. Then we package our two firsts and draft Burke or McCollum (my preference is McCollum).

Next season, our lineup looks like this:

PG: Williams/McCollum
SG: Burks/Foye
SF: Hayward/Marvin
PF: Millsap/Favors
C: Favors/Kanter

…that’s a damn good top nine without ANY additional FA acquisitions or players traded for, which is incredibly unlikely given the cap flexibility we’ll have after we let Al walk. Plus, we’d open up lots of PT for every member of the big 4 and (hopefully) have our PG of the future learning behind Mo for a season or two.

It’s not sexy, but it’s a pretty sound and executable plan to build towards the next few years. I’d be really happy if this played itself out.

…having said that, let’s go get Bledsoe.

So the notion is we give up Burks because we don't want to take on an additional 1.1M in salary this year or 1.3M difference? Dumb.

I can't believe Billy is down on Hayward. The guy has a lot of skills. The shot is getting deadly, he can create, he can pass, he can drive, and is good finishing on the break. The guy is amazing at video games. I'm sure he's even great in bed at this point. What's not to love?

I really don't think that Favors is a natural Center. And we'd be using him wrong putting him there. Also, re signing Millsap means we probably can't resign the core four. once they hit their potential they will want a lot of money. I say get rid of Millsap and Jefferson. Preferably for a couple decent cheap backups. And of course, Bledsoe :)
