I would do it either way but trading just adds a nice dimension to it. If no trades were allowed you’re stuck at where you were drawn every round.

I could even build in some fail-safes, like if you had the first pick in a given round your are ineligible for the first pick in the next round, or everyone who gets the final pick in a round automatically gets the first pick in the next round, so people picking last get 2 in a row to compensate.

Was going to post something like this, but you said it better. Might be better to re-draw after every two rounds.

I think it would be interesting to see how it would go as we currently do it, but NO trades until after the draft ends. Live with how the board falls, but still leave some flexibility to tweak things before matchups begin. Limit it to a 24 hour period after the draft to finalize your teams.

@White Chocolate has agreed to trade the draft rights to James Worthy and pick 151 to @Ellis269 for the draft rights to Glen Rice and pick 116.

He had one of the best crossovers ever and was widely considered the best if not the best a top-2 PG in the league for multiple years. One of my favorite Jazz men of all time I loved watching him play..
