What's new

Nikola Mirotic

Well my point was we have no idea of knowing what Mirotic's figure would be. It's a George Hill situation, and we saw how that can turn ugly.

And if Parker is a star, then he's worth 25 million and way more valuable than Mirotic. The real equation is if what it takes to acquire and pay Parker is worth it compared to what it takes to acquire and pay Mirotic.
Getting Parker would require quite a bit of shuffling just to take the risk of an offer sheet (unless we could trade for him, in which case I'm not certain what we could offer to make that work). I still think Mirotic would provide enough bang for the buck (even on a new contract) that it doesn't hamper us from getting another serious contributor as I believe it probably would with Jabari.

ummm...

why not just offer some peanuts for him. If he likes quin snyder then we can get him in the FA if he proves to be worth it this year and next year. Then he's a FA.

Because we need him for our title run this year.

Mods, please sticky the playoff bus thread when we get Mirotic and rename it the Title-run Train.

I do love the growing favorable view of Utah that we are seeing among players. We now have another ex-Jazzman in Hill speaking highly of Utah. And now another player in Mirotic that is open and willing, according to rumors, to come to Utah. Add to this players like Booker, Carroll, DWill and others that have recently had very good things to say about Utah.

DL and Snyder have been fantastic for this franchise for that reason alone.

Mirotic is most likely better than any player we’d draft.

Only a moron would give up Mirotic to tank for a player not as good as Mirotic.

This is a no brainer for Utah.

green hitting very heavy upon his return.

The article from espn also states that teams selling their vets are seeking too much for them. Mirotic is probably one of them. I can see them asking for favors + hood + our pick this year for him

I'm all for Mirotic as long as the price makes sense. Because really, does Mirotic get Mitchell and Gobert closer to a title or just closer to relevance?

I think Mirotic is somebody you have to take a risk on. If he's a consistent 2nd scorer behind Mitchell, then yes, he helps the chances of a championship.

Okay, so back to Mirotic. I want constructive criticism, but maybe this is the deal that does it:

Bulls get Joe Johnson, Moreland (nonguaranteed throw in) and Detroit's 2018 1st
Pistons get Hood and Favors
Jazz get Mirotic, Marjanovic, and Kennard

Bulls would waive Johnson so Joe can go play for a contender. They could keep Moreland if they want. Bulls get a 1st rounder for Mirotic without any future salary.

Pistons add two good players for a scrub center, a rookie and a late 1st.

Jazz get our stretch 4 and a rookie shooter.

I haven't thought most of LoPo's proposals have been realistic. But this one seems to come a lot closer.

I think Bulls & Jazz would probably go for it (for Jazz, it depends how strongly they believe in Hood & believe they'll be able to re-sign him if they believe in him). This certainly helps Detroit for this year's run. I'm not sure if they're interested in it over the long term. But if the Pistons felt they could reasonably re-sign both Hood and Favors, those two would certainly be great additions for the mix of players they have.

Another interesting takeaway from this article is the value of wings right now in the NBA. With that in mind, I sincerely doubt Hood is going anywhere.
