No Extension for Walker Kessler?

They have most of their future picks I believe. They have some young guys as well.

The way I see it, LeBron’s chances in the east with Miami are better than the chances in the west with LAL. LAL is clearly not bowing down to LeBron’s wishes anymore and that has already caused a lot of tension this off season.

There is already talk about LAL just letting LeBron expire. So if they aren’t putting everything in to win next year and are instead focused on Luka, why not cash in on LeBron? And if you’re MIA….is there a better shot than next year when Tatum and Haliburton are out? The east is wide open and with LeBron they’re in serious contention imo.
I meant what does Miami have to help LeBron win there? Is their team good? Do they have a Luka caliber player?

Maybe we can use our cap space to sign John Collins and Collin Sexton!

Weird to see Egor Demin on that list. He will be a rookie in 2025 and will be a free agent in 2026? Thats pretty abnormal right?

I don't think it's 100% correct. It was the quickest list I could find though.

I think the Jazz want to be the most competitive 20 win team in NBA history and draft either Boozer, AJ, or Darryn Peterson
Will any of them be available at 5 or 6, where we will end up inevitably in the draft?

I don’t know if it’s 1/4, but he definitely lost of value just by simply being a starter level player on low money. It’s like the Jazz are burning up all the winning value from him as possible and waiting for the last second….which is strange because that entire time the Jazz are trying to tank.

One of the things I regurgitated way too many times is that even though I didn’t “want” to trade Kessler, he probably meant more to another team more than us. We don’t seem extraordinarily high on him or anything (unless you count the non trade as evidence) and the immediate winning value is a net negative for us where it could have really made a difference in a winning team. Unless they really had an exceptional view of him as a prospect, I could see how a trade would make sense.

Situation hasn’t come to a conclusion yet, but it does seem like that the Jazz either have no plan, a bad plan, or a poorly executed one. The timing of trades/moves has been really poor post Rudy/Don.
That's kind of where I am at. I can speculate on their reasoning here but the first goal since Walker is still on the roster is to lock him into the most team friendly deal we can long term. The cap space thing makes me giggle a bit. We will have Lauri and Walker on long term deals and then rookie deals (which can easily be moved to create more financial flexibility).

Next year's FA market is not last summer's FA market. This isn't a new normal. Teams with space will say eff it and overpay still... just hope they don't do it with Walker I guess.

Still think there is a decent chance this is some smoke to maybe motivate Walker to come down on price a bit maybe. We will see.
