Off-Season Rumblings

He’s a 24.5 PPG guy on 49/40/89 shooting splits adding in 8.4 RPG in two years with us. The original comment was a better player than him. To be better than what he brings means we drafted a top-15 ish guy in the entire league.
Yeah I mean in 10 years with almost 20 picks I think you could draft someone that is top 15 ish. Lauri is probably a top 20ish guy but because of age I think you can justify saying he’s a top 15ish type guy to build around. In the western conference right now that’s not a perennial AS. He will make some all star games some years and others he won’t. I wonder if there is a term for that. Fine referring to him as an all star… he’s all star quality. In the East he probably makes it more often than not.

Its just weird to think we can’t draft guys that can become better than that given all the opportunity we will have and the fact that we’ve done it before with less opportunity.

He should have been all nba the previous year. If we are winning he's an easy all star every year at his level. I think you really undervalue him.
I’m not the one that selects all stars… the league is very good. In the east he’d be more of a lock for sure. We were 26-30 before AS break so not like we were a dumpster fire. There wasn’t any real “Lauri got snubbed” stories. I think he’s a top 20ish guy… so I’m not sure how that’s some diss.

Nobody thinks we can’t but the odds aren’t in our favor to draft a top-15 player in the league.

Over 10 years and literally 20 picks? Let’s fold the franchise then if we don’t think there’s a greater than 50% chance of that lol. Whatever we do with Lauri or the rest of the roster won’t matter.

We won’t be drafting a player with all 20 of those picks. Probably closer to half.

I doubt that. We will use 75% of them to either draft guys or move up in the draft through consolidation. Either way if you think with all the draft capital we have that in 10 years we won’t draft one all star then we are effed. I get that people are antitank so some make the draft seem impossible but it’s not impossible. We have drafted many all stars with less opportunity than we will have in the next 10 years. Drafting well is where the majority of our ultimate success will come from.

Sexton makes 30 million dollars less. We way underrate Sexton on this board.
It’s a pretty important factor. I don’t think Sexton and Lavine are mutually exclusive but defensively not ideal. It might be decent on offense though.

Yes. Exactly. This absolutely captures my despair at facing the stark reality of our position. As hopeless as people felt it was before blowing it up, we were staring at putting ourselves in a position where we may as well fold the franchise.
