Official Announcement! Gameface Poker Resurrection -- Saturday Apr. 23rd @7pm

I think you do an incredible job on these tourneys, Gameface, and if in the future there is anything we can do to make it easier on you, or to help, please tell us.

Personally, I think the chatter about the hand in play, by those not in the hand, could definitely be reined in. One other thing I noticed, Austin spent a few hands sitting (not playing) at the final table, leaning on the rail, and it messed the deal up a couple of times (and cost fish some desirable hole cards once, IIRC). I was standing behind him and contemplated telling him to at least back off the rail, but I felt like that wasn't my call to make, and perhaps I was the only one it bothered.

Austin though, is a good guy. I liked him.

There is actually a rule about this. I have seen misdeals in casinos due to this. It wouldn't have been wrong to ask him to sit back. I'll try to address this at the next game.

That was a fun night. Thanks for hosting and all the work you put into it @Gameface Also Gameface's beer is better than advertised. The scottish one was really good. The cooler of mystery beers was the best thing ever though, not nearly as good as Gameface's beer but really random beers and flavors.

Curtis was almost out of the game on our table before I kindly donated all of my chips to him over 2 hands. Lost on a flush that I had jack high and he had queen.

I got a little sloppy drunk, hopefully I didn't get to bad. Drinking and winning at poker dont go together well. Only seemingly awkward moment is when Curtis took out someone and he threw his cards on the table and mixed them in with other cards during the reveal, he was upset about losing but was trying to be nice about it. @fishonjazz didnt try to fight me so I guess I was okay. @TroutBum got a little drunk to and passed out on the couch, at least thats what I saw... I did get a good seat assignment Curtis and @Siro were good people to be seated by, both solid guys.

If the most drunk person at the tournament was a 10 you were (from outside appearance) maybe a 2 or 3. Not even close to a problem.

Yeah that beat where it was flush over flush was pretty rough. You both played the hand well and he just happened to have the higher card. I'm sure if he had the jack and you had the queen it would have played out the same way except you would have gotten the chips.

Oh and hopefully Austin joins Jazzfanz. He's one of the biggest Jazz fans I know. I've encouraged him to check it out and maybe meeting some of you will encourage him to join up.

Adam (the Spurs fan) Austin and I went to the Pacers game, had amazing seats and the Jazz won in OT. They were tickets that Adam's wife gets from work. Huge bonus was that Adam's wife's sister works for the millers (has for a long time) and she was serving in the Lexus club and got us all in. That's where I observed Randy Rigby taking firm control over the tortilla chip situation at the nacho station.

Is Austin the Brett Favre wannabe? All decked out in Packers gear? If so, the only problem I had with him was when he said that if the Jazz got Durant, they'd win the championship next season.

Good post. Shocked that no one had mentioned gameface beers or the mystery beer cooler yet. Both fantastic. Me and you had a good heart to heart and it was nice to get to you know a bit better.

Oh. Like I said.

Lightweight.

I was at a wedding and had been drinking since 4:00 pm and showed up with 1/3 of my bottle of red stag already gone. Then drank a lot of gameface beers (he had one that was like 4.5% alcohol and one that was like 7.5% iirc. I kept getting refills on the 7.5% one of course) and had a ton of shots of stag until it was gone and also drank some wild turkey 101 and had some mystery beer. Im far from a lightweight. My only problem is that i drink too damn much in a night.

So, the origin of the mystery beers...

Last year I served as a steward at the Beehive Brew Off. When the competition has been judged they basically open up the the refrigerated trailer full of beer and tell the judges and stewards to please take it all off their hands so they don't have to deal with it. There was easily 500 beers in there. I'm not sure exactly how many there really were, but 500 is a very conservative estimate. about 8 of us went in and loaded up. A few who were more experienced than me knew what they were looking for. I took about 48 beers total and stopped because I didn't want to take too much, but honestly I could have taken 100 beers or more and no one would have batted an eye.

You don't have to have anything to do with homebrewing to be a steward at the Beehive Brew Off. I plan on doing it again this year. If anyone wants to come with just let me know. At the competition stewards organize the beers and provide them to the judges. They pour what they need to judge the beer and there is usually about 4oz left over per bottle. As a steward you are free to sample and compare notes with the judges. They'll usually tell you if there is one you should try. In fact, when they have a really good one they tell the event organizers to check it out.

It's pretty laid back. It's a good way to learn about the beer competition process. Both the owner of Salt City Brew Supply and Beer Nut are there and several local homebrewers turned pro-brewers too. Great way to meet the people involved in Utah's local beer industry. Many of the judges were employees of the local breweries.

Oh, and they provide breakfast and lunch. It all happens at the Bayou, and the Bayou makes the lunch.

Seriously, hit me up for details. I'll be there and they can usually use a few extra stewards.

You're 100% not a lightweight.

Oh ****. It must be a Dannon thing.

haha

So where do you see the Jazz if they manage to pick up Durant? Are you not big on Durant or you think the Jazz need more than that to compete for a chip?
