***Official Trade Royce O'neale for anything thread***

"I think Royce is an over achiever. I don't think he's terrible just like I don't think he's our team's Bruce Bowen (kind if a slap to Bruce's face tbh.)"

Then you said he should shoot more, implying that he has room to grow. So what is it, does he overachieve or underachieve?

I dont know how this is so hard for you to grasp

Bro, your question makes no sense and is hard to grasp.

He is an over achiever. There have been many before him and will be many after him. Some overachievers end up becoming All Stars - Steve Nash. Some plateau and fall off - Chris Douglas Roberts.

Yes, I think he should shoot more when he's open instead of deferring - by saying that, by no means equates to thinking he can't improve or isn't an overachiever. It's vacuous to translate it to meaning that and makes no sense.

Yes, I think Royce is a better option coming off the bench at this point in his career.

I don't think Royce is the biggest problem on this team, by far. We're just not as good and deep as everyone thought they'd be. It's cute people try and argue or defend this.

Yep he intentionally injured players when they landed from their jump shots

And Karl Malone invented the people's elbow. Some cheap players are know as the greatest in history - just a lil tainted.

Royce O'Neal is not comparable to Bowen. Bowen was nominated to NBA all defense first or second team for 8 straight years.

He threatened to undercut the judges though, they agreed because they didn't want ankle injuries

Just an interesting stat.

Royce's rookie year he played 16 min pg and averaged 5 ppg.
His second year he averaged 20 minutes a game and averaged 5 ppg.
This year he averages 28 minutes pg and averages 5 ppg.

He does average 1 more rpg and 1 apg this year.

He's been given a lot more minutes and has produced next to nothing more other than his 3 shooting %.

I don't know how anyone could overstate how important Royce is to this team. He's a premier defender at 4 positions and the only thing he does to detriment winning is actually not shoot enough on a team that he understands has a bunch of star power looking for their stats. He and Joe are the pieces that make this rickety, top-heavy team work.
Yup. Taking out frustrations on Royce right now seems like madness to me. Or ignorance.

You questioned why he’s on an NBA roster. That’s implying he’s awful and we should get rid of him.
I said, "an NBA playoff roster."

I mean, there's a reason he went undrafted. He's undersized and his production on the court has improved very little of the last three years even though his minutes have gone up to 28 from 16.

He's cheap. He's an decent defender and he shoots the three well when he actually shoots it. That said, I'm still surprised he's on an NBA roster.

I don't hate the guy and I hope he kills it. I'm just telling you what I've seen.

He's a premier defender at four positions and the worst thing he does with a possession is pass the ball which is basically exactly what we need.

Given what you could get back for Royce in a trade (very little because of his cheap contract) there is really only one reason you trade him - you are worried you won't be able to resign him next year and would rather get something now than lose him for nothing at the end of the year.

My expectation is the best you can get back for Royce is a future pick (late first round/early second?) or some scrub who is likely no better than he is. With the total lack of current production from our bench, aren't the Jazz better off keeping him and letting it play out in the offseason?
