On the record...

I brought up Smart not because I necessarily believe that deal was available, but because it was common to have that hesitation to trade offense for defense. It's just a very clear example of what I believe to be overvaluing the existing roster at the time. This isn't to say Bogey is overrated on his own, but that we didn't give enough consideration to the fact the our defense sucked badly. It didn't have to Bogey and Smart. It could have been any of our offense only players for someone who isn't offense only. We overvalued the existing roster on this board. Whoever made the decisions could have too, and I believe that was a bigger contributing factor to the inaction than a tough trade market.

Who are you talking about here when you said there was hesitation?

ok, i root for a team that keeps their good players and tries to find talent to put around them to win. they keep the core, they show loyalty to hard work, they let go people who aren't team players. they don't always win, but they are fun to cheer for and when they do strike gold, it's worth the payoff. we no longer have that team.

I'll go on the record that I think Butler has a break-out season provided he really gets playing time.

As has already been mentioned, that season after Stockton/Malone left was one of the most exciting seasons. It's a shame that Kirilenko didn't keep that level of performance and motivation for the remainder of his career. He could have been an all time great.

I'm on the record saying we won't trade DM and go full tank. We'll play well enough to almost make the play in (finish 1 game out at 11). Then whoever got our draft pick at 11 will get a miracle bouncing ball and grab the #1 pick (unless it was protected for some reason...I really don't know)

I think the Jazz own their own pick for the next draft. In 2024 their own pick is Top 10 protected.
