I have heard a lot of people ask for TANGIBLE WAYS that they can improve the community. Can we be more constructive and suggest ways of helping out and healing instead of witch hunting?

I have heard LISTEN. I have heard VOTE. Happy to do both.

A tangible change I would support is exchanging the majority of police officers arsenal from lethal to effective non-lethal as a way to curb police brutality and excessive use of force. Its not a cure all but a step in the right direction methinks.

I have an idea: Make them keep their gun in their trunk, and record every time they open the locker.

Also, why don't cops have smart guns?

It is very convenient that the guys never have the body cameras on or they weren't working when these things happen.

a person with a billion dollars donating a million dollars is like someone making $40000/year donating $40.

These vampires can shell out much, much more. That's not to mention the fact that they actually do not actually work for their wages-- their possession of money and assets makes them money.

Of course, the rot of capitalism has done a number on Americans to the point where many (most?) side with billionaires ahead of working basketball players who routinely give back more than their bosses (example: Zion paying the salaries of workers laid off when ownership never did).

I'm warmed by the wildcat strike. Its spontaneity was educational but its lack of organization and solidarity led to its early end. It's too bad-- I honestly think the NBA could spearhead a general strike across North America, something that may be needed before millions more die from covid this winter.

If you read the ESPN play-by-play of last night, the Bucks' owner at one point called the Wisconsin governor on his personal phone and asked him to talk to players for 3 hours. That is incredibly telling. That is the reality of being a rich white man in America. You have a direct freaking line to the highest levels of government. For all his money and fame, do you think Giannis had the number?

What do ALL of these police shootings have in common? NONE of the suspects listened to or complied with the instructions given by the police. If they had, they wouldn't have gotten shot. The solution then is simple. Respect the police and do what they tell you to do. PERIOD! If you don't agree, you can always LIVE and contest it later. Those police officers want to go home to their families at the end of the day. If they blindly let a non compliant suspect reach into their car, and wait to see if he pulls out a gun, it's too late to react and the gunfight is over. What do people think, that the rules should be that police are only allowed to fire AFTER they've been fired upon? Give me a break! Police have to make split second, oftentimes life and death decisions during rapidly escalating circumstances and then are second guessed by people sitting and in a lounge chair watching the video replayed in slow motion calling the police involved racists and murderers.

Walk a mile in their moccasins and you'll quickly see how difficult their job is.

I have seen people disobey mask mandates. I say anyone who doesn't wear a mask where it's required should be shot. Then after they get shot we just say, well you should have worn a mask.

Can’t believe the players caved so quickly.

Neither did I at first but from what I read about the events over the last 24 hours it's become readily obvious.

-The Bucks never bothered to tell anyone about their boycott until game time. This includes the Orlando Magic players. So while The Bucks are sitting in their locker room the Magic are out on the floor warming up. Bad, bad look. Especially considering they're in a ****ing bubble where players from other teams co-mingle constantly.

-At the players meeting last night LeBron (who I've said in other posts is probably the main reason the bubble exists in the first place) announced he wanted to end the season. When other players gave opposing opinions he apparently stormed out of the room and took the rest of his team with him.

-The players then went to the owners and said to them "what are you going to do convince us to keep playing." When clearly the move should have been, "we want A, B, C & D or we're walking the hell out of here."

This all reeks of a lack of leadership and a lack of planning. LeBron is incapable of being a true leader outside of a basketball court because no one has ever challenged him or said no to him in over 20 years. What you have left over is a bunch of influencers - people who can do or say compelling things for 3 minutes on YouTube - but you have no leaders.

Call me biased but the one person who has a chance is Donovan, he's smart enough and grounded enough and charismatic enough; but right now he's too damn young and too damn hurt.

The season should have ended last night - the players should have told the league and the public to stick this side-show up your asses but they'll play on - it's a shame really because they had their chance to make a lasting mark.

I'm afraid we are going to see some injuries when the teams start back up. It's apparent that not all the players are into this and probably more so after the past few days. Players not giving it their all have a tendency to be injured more often than those going full throtle.

I love it when I hear of pro players giving to their communities. I don't disagree that the owners shouldn't help develop their communities either. However, isn't that exactly what they are doing with the 300 million? Jordan's company is also giving an additional 100 million over 10 years as well. So we are nearing half a billion dollars, probably even more than that if we do some real homework but to some this is not enough? Should they give all of their earnings away? What's the dollar point where it's acceptable?

ANY comment degrading someone based on race or skin color is by definition racism. When you bring skin color into the fight you cross a line. If you want change, don't cross the line.

I wouldn't defend calling people racially motivated names. I certainly wouldn't say that it is somehow not racially motivated.

It doesn't compare to shooting someone in the back 7 times from point blank range. Absolutely true. We should be outraged as people. There is history that cannot be dismissed. But if we are going to move on then people need to not cross the line. PEOPLE, not some group of people as defined by skin color. Not white boys or African Americans.

Respect. Don't cross the line.

It's not racism though by definition or actuality. A white person is not minority or marginalized group. He is not being discriminated against. White people do not have prejudice against them for the color of their skin.

It's not comparable to saying a similar statement towards a black person.

If you want to make a difference stop thinking white people are also being subject to racism and victims. They are not. They might face other issues but their skin color is not one.

Maybe do some research on reverse racism. It's very interesting and useful information.
