Players that could be had for Memo TPE

No way Detroit gives up BK just to get Raja and Harris though. Someone would have to include a pick.

Normally i would think the same but they hate Ben Gordon's contract and I highly doubt they wanna pay him 37 million to play for someone else even if its off the books (Amnestied).

Harris is for sure better than Knight right now. Knight has a ways to go. But getting rid of Ben Gordon's contract is probably the best thing for this franchise right now.

I'm just glad Kevin is actively looking.
I'm guessing he has something in the works and that's why they pulled the trigger on Okur.
If they moved Okur without any ideas, I will be much less impressed.

If Detroit is so desperate to be rid of Gordon (and they should), and the Jazz had no interest in him when he was actually producing, why would the Jazz even take into consideration taking him on? The Millers are silly rich, but they're not rich for an NBA ownership group, they can't even amnesty him anyway, and they certainly won't just waive him. Everything surrounding Ben Gordon is that he's just a problem on and off the court besides all of that.

I'd consider using the GS pick to get Knight if it meant no Villanueva or Gordon.

God no. Can't run the break, horrid defender. Mediocre.
On the other hand, he knows how to actually run an offense and hit shots. That combination of skills is somehow not terribly common in the NBA.

With a TPE though, the acquired player's salary must be less than the TPE.

Are you sure about this? From the language I've found, it appears to be saying we could actually take back $100,000 more in salary. I could be missing something, though.

In a non-simultaneous trade, a team can only acquire up to 100% plus $100,000 of the salary it gives up (as opposed to 125% plus $100,000 in a simultaneous trade).

Ok, so $100k more. That's a pretty insignificant amount, and far less than would be required for some of the proposed trades in this thread.

Yeah, I was just in the process of editing to say the same thing.

I really just wanted to know if you knew something that I was missing.

This is how the old CBA operated and I really doubt it has changed. Everything that has come out thus far has been in favor of the owners holding salaries down (with the exception of the minimum team payroll rule). Granting a new provision for owners to aquire more salary in the coming off season would be another loophole the owners would not want, at least the small market owners.

espn's nba trade machine says that we still have a $1.8 million dollar TPE from the DWill trade. Can we combine that with the Memo TPE? Does the original list already reflect that? Am I way behind the conversation? Kool.

You are.

You cannot combine the salary from one TPE to any other salary. That includes other players and other TPEs. Also, a TPE cannot absord multiple contract. It's one TPE for one player.

In short, with the $10.8 million TPE, the Jazz can absorb ONE contract at that money or less.
