Playoff Game 7: Jazz @ Clippers Sun 4/30/17 1:30 PM ABC

Ingles has gone scoreless in the last two games. If he can't find his shot, an argument can be made for giving Exum some minutes. Exum can chase Redick and Felton around and move the ball. He might even make a shot or two.

The fact that Hood/Ingles shot so badly might lure the Clips into leaving them open again. If they can start connecting, we can win this. It's really just a matter of making open looks.

We've lost to clips in an afternoon game this season.
It was like the 5th game of the season. Hayward was still out.
It was one of our top 3 worst games of the year.
We've also lost to spurs late in the season in a 3:30 game.
Both games were nationally televised in Turkey, just like tomorrow's game. I'm nervous. DEAR JAZZ, PLEASE MAKE THESE DIE HARD, DEVOTED FANS SMILE AND WIN THIS SERIES.
LET'S GO!

Something to consider. Winning last night would've been three straight for Utah. It's possible our odds are actually a little better in game 7 than 6 in some ways. We've shown the ability to win in L.A. Twice, in fact. It's not beyond possibility. Not probable, but pretty possible.

Wish Hood was getting in on that, too...

has Quin got one more set of tricks up his sleeve, can he make any kind of moves to thwart what happened this game ? I'll be super impressed if there's one more rabbit he can pull out of the hat.

My contrarian moves:

1. Start Favors. He'll play better matched against 4s and the Clips cannot match our size. With big lineup, more aggressively defend the perimeter and trust Rudy/ Favors in the middle. This is risky as Reddick may go off and become a factor.
2. Quicker guard rotations. We are sucking wind from aggressive D and this is killing our shooting %. Especially, rotate Jingles out every 6 minutes. He is not conditioned to be efficient for longer durations.

I think it is going to come down to who has energy for 48 minutes, and there is going to be a temptation to overplay stars. I think this will backfire for either team as a gassed star can be a liability. So getting quality minutes from the bench is key.

The Clippers won game 6 for one reason: The Clippers second team outscored the Jazz by 4 while CP3 & DeAndre were on the bench for 10 minutes. With extended rest, CP3 then had legs to close.

I'd also put Rodney on a short leash -- 6 minutes to close Q1 and if he is cold, leave him on the bench in second half. Play Exum.

Starting Favors will hurt our spacing and playmaking. Diaw has actually been one of our best, most confident players.

I agree that Exum can give us a shot in the arm, particularly when Jordan is off the floor. He can shut down Felton defensively, he can move the ball, he can run pick-and-roll with Favors, and he's a threat to go to the rim. Whereas, Ingles isn't a threat to drive. Ingles is playing 33 minutes, and it may be more than his body is built to handle.

I WANT TO SLEEP HAPPILY EVER AFTER
COME ON JAZZ!!!!

If we win twice, the chance of winning a third time is lower than if we won only once? Or lost the previous game? I don't think there is any evidence to back this up.

Well, we're toast! Defending the pick and roll was pathetically flawed last night. Gave up way too many wide open 15 footers off of it and they hit most of them. Our outside shooting was poor. Hey, did you see the Houston Rockets missed 31 three pointers....and still beat the Thunder? 6 for 37....and WON the game??? If they would have shot that poorly against a Stockton and Malone Jazz team, they would have lost by 25 points! Oh, well, winning game 7 and 3 on the road is next to impossible! But in today's NBA...who knows!

Playmaking, yes. Spacing, I don't think it much. They've been playing off Diaw and will play off Favors.

Even if both were true, is the penalty for this worse than the benefits of dominating inside? To me that is the question. We'll never know because I don't think QS will do it.
