Post Moronic Things You've Done to Make Me Feel Better About What I Did

I tried some substances for the first time a couple weeks ago and said some really cringey ****ed up things to some friends of my friend (whom I met for the first time that night) that are so cringe and embarassing that I think about it multiple times a day every day since and can't type here what I said because of how bad I will be judged.

This was several years ago:
I was using a cordless drill with a 3 1/2” hole saw to drill through the exterior wall of a house. It took forever and was burning through the wood more than cutting it. I just assumed the bit was dull. Turns out I had in it reverse the whole time. I burned up a $150 drill by cutting a hole in reverse.

I hate that feeling. I'm pretty sure everyone has been there in some form or another. You just get like a wave of embarrassment that you can't do anything about. It probably doesn't help that your serotonin levels are low post whatever you did I'm guessing.

You'll probably appreciate this one.

I finished wiring my Attic. I got all the outlets done and just finished the recessed lights and bathroom fan. I flipped the breaker and turned in the light switches and nothing. After being annoyed I started checking everything but couldn't see anything wrong. I decided to cool off and walk away from the project and come back to it. After awhile I couldn't think of why they were not working so I went to walk back up to start tearing stuff apart to start checking it more thoroughly when I noticed that I hadn't put in the light bulbs yet. Good news is they worked just fine after I put those in...

I had a service call the other day. The homeowner’s son had changed out a couple switches. Suddenly, every time he flipped the switch, the breaker tripped. I was there an hour before I realized the dude had hooked the ground wire to the same terminal as the wire to the light. Every time he flipped that switch, it sent power to the ground, an immediate short circuit. I was pretty disappointed in myself for not catching it sooner.

Trying to fix other people's mess ups seems awful. From my friends who are electricians that seems like the worse part of their jobs.

Speaking of which could you come over and take a look at something I broke... Jk

I was running a little late for work, not so much that I was going to be late, just leaving a min or two after I normally do. So I get to my car and use my key fob to unlock the door, then as I'm getting in I realize I forgot something in my house. So I walk up top my front door and push the unlock button on my key fob and wait for a second listening for the lock to open before realizing that's not how my front door works.

I've done this a time or two. I'm always really glad that no one is watching.

I never take the key fob out of my pocket and my doors open automatically. But I cannot tell you how many times I have gone looking for my keys when they were in my pocket the whole time. Once while the car was running. Absentmindedness is a sign of genius right? Right?

I actually had an intense afterglow effect that lasted 5 days. Very thankful as without it and if opposite happened I would have been in worst mood of my life while cringing over things I said and did.

Pretty sure I've at least pulled my keys out and *thought* about doing that with my bike lock, even if I haven't actually pushed the button.
