Raja can't let it go

Sounds like Raja just can't get over getting old, getting worn down and getting beat out of playing time by younger players.

From today:

Steve Luhm:
Raja Bell on ESPN, talking about his strained relationship with coach Tyrone Corbin: "I thought it was personal and still do." about 25 minutes ago

Draft day trade needs to happen so that this doesn't continue to fester.

What the hell does that mean anyway? Did he call him a name or make fun of his kids? If you challenge the coach, then you should expect some sort of ramification from this. Also, Corbin tried him out against the Blazers. He blew so bad that it pretty much sealed the deal for his NBA Playoff bench-warming.

Im glad Raja is throwing a fit. It might force KOC to actually do what a GM should do. Which is make moves to improve the team. Kevin is the king of do nothing though. So it wont surprise me if nothing happens. I can see KOC just forcing Bell and Torbin to make up.

Yeah, he didn't trade to get the shooter we needed in Korver. He didn't package three 1sts to move up and get Deron. He didn't trade Deron before it was too late like a genius.

Haha.

Korver? Ya, he sucks dude. Hate to break it to you. Korver was a PR stunt. That was only for ticket sales of 16 year old girls.

Moving up to gey Deron is the only risk he has taken. It was a nice move. But that is his only gutsy move.

Trading Deron was only because he was scared that Deron would have left. The risk was to keep him. So it was a no brainer to take the package NJ offered. Guts and savy would have been to trade Boozer and Okur before they became worthless, and build a real team around Deron. Thay way Deron would have stayed.

Got anything else? Is that it? That's KOC's legacy?

Fantastic!

Hot damn! Welcome back my friend. Damn the man! Woot woot.

I wish we knew the whole interview and quit jumping to conclusions on one sentence.

For example:
"I killed my hot nieghbor."
......
"Wait, did I say killed? I meant made out with"

See how misleading quotes can be?

Please list me the ballsy moves that many a GM are making league-wide then, Copernicus.

That will take some time to compile all the mountains of info. Ill give you a couple though. Where the hell was Kevin when NJ was giving away lottery picks for free? He had already been working with NJ quite a bit. You telling me we couldnt have thrown something together that was better than a Gerald Wallace?

Where was he on the Gasol and Garnett trades. You telling me we couldnt have done better than those other teams with a Boozer/ Okur special?

Or how about Clippers giving away number one picks for an easily amnestied Baron Davis?

There are plenty of more trade examples out there too that go down every year, and KOC is nowhere to be found.

I know, I know, you have got good reasons why each one of those didnt go down for us. The point is that there are dumb GM's out there, and there are moves to be had if he wanted to. He could do more if he wanted to.

Now I know that being a trade happy GM isnt the way to go either, but refusing to trade is quite another. Kevin O Connor's philosophy is dont rock the boat, play it safe, let's just make sure we get in the playoffs.

Id rather make mistake after mistake then finally hit it big one time and win a championship, rather than being an early playoff exit every single year.

Not trading Boozer, Okur, and Jefferson is truly his legacy. He is perfectly fine with rolling with those players even though he knows(or at least he should) that they werent going to lead us anywhere. Instead of extracting some value out of them in a trade

You cant tell me either that Boozer wouldnt have net us anything. Chicago still signed him up big even after we all knew he was garbage.

Haha.

The trade exception from the Boozer sign-and-trade turned into Big Al. That's not exactly worthless. And the Jazz still have a trade exception from the Okur trade. Patience is a virtue. Teams are always a work in progress. And I love how you seem to think that it's some easy thing to make great trades. The Jazz are pretty tight-lipped about things. It's kind of hard to pass judgement on KOC when you don't necessarily know what proposals are out there.

In the Gasol trade, the Grizzlies wanted young players and expiring contracts. Kwame Brown was an expiring contract. The draft rights to Marc Gasol represented a young player. As for the Garnett trade, KG had an opt out clause. Unless you were a team he wanted to go to, you sure wouldn't want to trade for him. Second, is it any surprise that Kevin McHale worked a deal with his friend and former teammate Danny Ainge?

1) Wallace for NJ's 1st--You tell me. What could we have offered that was so much better than Wallace? Personally, I think the trade was dumb. But I think the Nets wanted GW's Bird Rights and they got them--I think. Listen, the team that made out here wasn't the one with balls. Portland did what anyone would have done. If we could have, I'm sure we would have. But for some reason, the Nets wanted Wallace. Not C.J. Miles.
2) Garnett--What the hell could we have offered for him? Boozer? Jefferson was more attractive to them. Younger, longer, more dominant inside.
3) The Clips-Davis. Do you really think we had the pockets to take on Davis? There's no way we're fronting that much money for a worthless guy. There was no amnestying when the trade went down. Off the top of my head, AK for Davis may have worked. AK was expiring so it makes some sense. But financially, the Clips would have had to pay 47. This to me is the only I see where it maybe could have worked on both ends.

But you've made it out like every GM make ballsy moves, like these, multiple times. So again, I ask you, what GM has made many a ballsy move?

Three trades and three reasons why

Just have to jump in here and mention that a lot of KOC's lack of trades had to do with the coach and the owner saying no. KOC wanted to trade AK, KOC wanted to trade Boozer. LHM said no to the first and Sloan said no to the later. KOC has made a lot of moves in the last year that might show what he can do if given the power to do so. He never really had that power until this last year IMO.

Any references on this?
