Leon Bridges - Coming Home
9/10 - he's excellent, he's got a great voice and I love his old school soul style. Great song - is it original? Reminds me of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it now.

ok, here's some real old school, sticking with the "home" theme

Yep - original. Definitely evokes memories of Sam Cooke! Cooke is one of my all time favorites because I used to listen to him in my grandpa's car when he'd drive us around when we'd visit. 10/10..

Here's more Leon.

Talking Heads was a seriously crazy live act. I saw them 3 times, every time it was different and nuts. Rank up there with ZZ Top and Blue Oyster Cult among the best live acts I have seen. 8/10.

Since I was listening to this today, I thought I would go with something a little more bluesy. How about The Raconteurs - Level. More brilliance from Jack White.

Level...6/10. The Raconteurs were hit and miss for me and I love Jack White's stuff.

Another super group with a very unofficial video...

Them Crooked Vultures - No one loves me
5.5/10 - mixed feelings on this, I liked the beginning and it was good for the first 2-3 minutes but seemed to bog down the last 2 minutes or so

these young ladies have an interesting sound and a varied repertoire - this seems to be their latest release, it doesn't really sound much like their stuff from a couple years ago, some of their stuff make me think of Sheryl Crow or the Bangles

Icona Pop - Emergency
6.5/10. I like it, although it's a bit too "bright"-sounding for me to want to return to it very often. Perhaps worth noting that I quite like "In the Stars" by the same artist:

DJ Encore - a bit repetitive, but that's not always a bad thing. 6/10

Kind of similar: Archive - Hatchet (I would post the track Violently, but that has NSFW language)

Good effort but just not really my style of music.. Let's just call it a solid 6.

If you're not moved by this I don't think you're human....

I am not human. 5/10. It was alright, a bit too, what syrupy for me. Maybe that isn't the right word, idk.

Try this one out...

Treat Me Like Your Mother...Jack White and Alison Mosshart. Heaven. The song was solid. 7/10

I just saw Ryan Adams at Red Butte Garden and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. He opened with this.

Ryan Adams - Gimme Something Good
5/10 - not bad, a little generic sounding and I think I'd like it better at a slightly faster tempo

for our resident Dutchie

interesting historical footnote: Musical Youth became the first black artists to appear in a studio segment on MTV (from wikipedia)

I'll go 3/10 for the song -10/10 for the poster.

As for my submission, I'll go with one of my favorites of a band I just found out about.

Love Kacey. 7/10.

Now for the best songwriter around today....

Jason Isbell - 24 Frames
9/10

great lyrics, nice melody and good vocals
it's one I'd probably even put on repeat when I was in the mood for slower stuff

here's a change of pace in style and tone, but good lyrics as well

I remember these guys from a song I think, I can't look it up right now but I think it was animals, such a great song. I like this too, need to listen to more from them.

6.5/10

More kacey as her albums recently dropped, might spam her:D

Family Is Family...one of the weaker songs on the album but still 6/10.

The best song on the album....

Love that slide guitar. The video was blocked in my country so I had to listen on spotify. She is certainly easy on the eyes.
This has a very old time real feel to it. How country was meant to be. How country isnt today. I can listen to this all day.
Willie doesnt add to much to the song, but it is a nice break. The female male vocals have always been a favorite of mine.
I see a dusty old bar where time is standing still. A lazy afternoon. Are you sure this is where you want to be...?

Because you know you want to...

Future Islands

Not bad. The dude skating around was distracting. Sounded like a lip sync too. In and of itself that is fine, but don't pass it off as live. Anyway, that wasn't that big a deal really.

Let's say 5/10.

Now for a band in my regular rotation right now. This is their more popular track.

The Heavy. How you like me now?
