Honestly YouTube is the best. My dishwasher had an inch or two of standing water in it. I watched a YouTube video and the dude said it’s probably due to some thing at the bottom/back of the washer. I took it out and cleaned it (or something I forget) and put it back and reran it and it worked.
I'm not sure. Something with the drain pipe, something with the interior tub thingy.

so... did she sort of KNOW what she was doing, or did she just "fiddle around" and it was fixed?

Fiddled. She's good like that. 81 yo and still smarter than me in useful stuff. I can kick her trash in trivia (useless info) though.
