I thought this was the best thread for this. In May/June 2023, the Texas Education Agency replaced an elected superintendent of school with Mike Miles, who plans to link principal/teacher pay to test scores.
Miles was appointed the new superintendent of the now state-controlled HISD and has made significant adjustments, which have parents and the community on the defense.

One aspect of his plan is ending the respective librarian positions and repurposing the libraries as areas to send disruptive students out of the classroom.
At least 28 campuses in HISD are eliminating librarians and media specialists while converting their libraries into spaces that will be used to discipline misbehaving students, among other uses.

Other features are typical of factory-style education (no individualization of lesson plans and cameras in the classrooms).
