Well I mean come on Archie, you are defending the use of a term for a class of people in a demeaning way as part of the culture. Hardly uplifting to humanity and all.

Well I have the benefit of reading lots of other threads you've posted in. I'm not viewing your post with a blank slate of experience.

Simple question: Do you think it's appropriate? Yes or No.

Appropriate? No. I'm not going to allow my kids to use it. I generally don't say it. Never at work, school, etc, but it's not like I've never said it to mean stupid before. I have and probably will say it again sometime. I grew up saying it and pretty much eliminated it from my vocabulary after living in the Bay Area. Offensive? No. Will I go out of my way and tell people they're not allowed to say it? No (unless it's my kid etc) I don't really care. I word means "stupid" in my head when I hear it and that's it.

Treat rep like the baseball code: if a guy beans you then you bean him back. No more fighting everyone's even. Even better is just running to first base to make it clear that he's incapable of hurting you. Everything else is just a big "cry harder."
