The situation report is this:
- Rudy did something in the locker room and then something with the reporters which he admits was irresponsible and has apologized for.
- By most accounts, some of his teammates are livid, apoplectic with him.
- He is a free agent soon, and could command a Supermax contract.
Analysis: I’ll forego my usual empiricist jokes beyond saying that we were not in the locker room so we have no genuine knowledge of the situation. But given points 1, 2, and 3, we have to be prepared for the possibility that Rudy now wants to leave the Jazz, or the management is considering trading him, or that some of his teammates would like to see him gone. I’m personally a big fan of both Mitchell and Gobert, and would love to see them both stay and lead us to the title. But things look pretty dicey in the locker room, at least from our distant, reporter mediated vantage point.
