Rondo on the Jazz

Not naming names (Numberica), but some of you guys are just clueless on Rondo. Obviously we'll have to wait and see how he does without the 'trio', but I'd put big money on him. Dudes a winner. He does everything at an elite level except for shooting the ball. If he needed to, though, he can absolutely score it.

We, no you, shall see.
Maybe it's just when I watch (the finals, playoffs, occasional regular season national TV games, jazz games), but only fools respect his shot, and the even smarter (Kobe) play hack-a-Rondo. 50% FT shooting AS A PG. 23% from 3.

Saying he can do "everything but shoot" also means "everything but arguably the most important single-ability in basketball". The issue isn't that he's just short of elite at shooting, he's bad. Plainly bad. And with confidence (or lack thereof) to boot. That might not matter if you're 6' 10", but for a PG that **** matters.

The Celtics have another championship, in 6 games or less, if they had a PG with a more well-rounded skill-set. His inability to make the Lakers respect him destroyed their offense.

I'm with ya PKM! Your a KU homer, and I despise KU for the many times they knocked Utah off in the turny. Rondo is a great fit with the jazz.

Coming from the guy that scarcely has a bad thing to say about anyone from KU unless glaringly awful, that's rich.

So basically we would have Hayward being the only one who can shoot 3's on our team (wouldn't be surprised if Okur was worked into a Rondo deal)? Devin Harris isn't lights out by any means but Rondo is a major downgrade when it comes to shooting. I think this won't even come close to happening anyways but I really like Rondo on defense (we REALLY need some perimeter defenders) and say what you want about his teammates, he can still pass the ball. I agree with Numerica about shooting being important though for PG's. I don't think it is the MOST important skill to have but the most efficient way to score for a point guard is attacking the basket and shooting 3's IMO.

First off, it's UK. And this is simply waaaay untrue. I gave the pros and cons of Kanter. It's me stating my concern of Teague (or any PG in this or next year's class). My concerns over Jones and even K-Gilchrist are also well documented here. I'm an equal opportunity offender. I'm opinionated, sometimes wrong, and admit it.

No thank you.. I don't want a PG that can't shoot outside of 10 feet.. case in point his FT percentage.

Wait, if you watched the playoffs the last few years, haven't you noticed that Rondo was by far their best player on the Celtics?

Of course KoC should talk to them, and probably has or eventually will. Celtics are very old and need to rebuild. They will surely want a king's ransom for Rondo; he is the only Celtic who's both TALENTED and YOUNG and can attract new talent. Unlikely they'll get it, although they might take multiple 1st round picks for him. Given our youth, I expect we'll be in the next few upcoming lotteries, so if I'm KoC, I would hold onto my draft choices... If we can get him at a reasonable price though, I'd do it; he'd be a nice fit in Utah!

Shows how much people on this board overrate shooting, judging by the comments. The guy does everything else at a very elite level, and on more than one occasion he pw'd Deron. If he could shoot, he'd probably be the best PG in the league. Like AK once could, he can take over a game just with his defense.

From Yahoo sports Adrian Wojnarowski:

"The Celtics have been gauging Rondo’s trade value for more than a year, and have held discussions with teams about him across the past few trade deadlines and NBA drafts. There have long been divides within Boston’s front office, coaching staff and locker room about Rondo. He can be moody, difficult and stubborn, and several league sources were dubious if the Pacers’ young coach, Frank Vogel, would have the stature to deal with Rondo."

I don't think the concerns only about his shooting.

Anyone that watches basketball and/or 1 game of the celtics know that he's a product of the big 3. They know he's going to be garbage when they're gone so they need to get top dollar for him now.

Hmmm. I don't think it is that big of a problem. I never really heard too much about this before, and it never appeared to affect his game.
