Yeah, I feel like if this election were happening in Utah the voters would feel more obligated to vote for the Republican than to worry who the Republican is.

There is a high likelihood of that happening anywhere really. I would kind of hope it would be the opposite in Utah, but you may be right.

They discussed this this morning on NPR and the comment that was made seemed to fit the political climate well. They said that the problem largely is that the republican base sees having a democrat in office as worse than having this guy in office regardless of what he has done (more or less, I am paraphrasing obviously). And that seems to fit what we are seeing, and it is appalling that sticking to party lines in our divisive politics is viewed by anyone as more important than a person's character. But that is the crux of it.

Yup, being a member of the Rs or Ds is so poisonous to so many voters.

Character is a big reason I voted independent. I just could not bring myself to vote for either Trump or Hillary. I think we had one of the worst choices in the history of the presidential election this last cycle. I hope that we get better choices next time around. I am really afraid we will get a terrible choice from the dems in 2020 who will win by default because everyone is sick of Trump. This cycle could repeat. Scary thought.

This is the same Moore who wrote the editorial on Ellison back in the mid 00's correct? These allegations are pretty bad. But I'm just sad our country is in a position to elect a piece of **** like Moore even before they came out.

For real. He was a nightmare of a candidate well before the molestation came to light. I mean, he was stripped of his judgeship TWICE (he got re-elected a few years after his first removal), and said Muslims shouldn't be allowed to serve in the Senate.

Harvey Weinstein has lost his company and is a social pariah.
Kevin Spacey lost his show on Netflix and is literally being erased from his last movie.
CK Louis lost his show on HBO.

Enough with this “the left doesn’t hold their own accountable” nonsense. That narrative is as accurate as Hannity’s reporting of Seth Rich or uranium. Utter rubbish.

I find it interesting that the "liberal beacon" that is The NY Times printed the story on Louis CK four days before the premiere of his self-financed movie. Obviously the timing was to create the maximum amount of buzz and as a result will probably ruin CK financially - my understanding is the movie has been shelved indefinitely.

I won't blame the NYT for the destruction of his career though - CK did that to himself.

Rip me to shreds. I'm not sure I care.

Everyone has to be given a chance to explain themselves.

I'm not an apologist.. I'm not doing business with him anytime soon. I would stop doing business with him until he cleared this whole mess up, and a satisfactory explanation written up and signed by both parties. Shame on anyone who knew about this and didn't raise flags.

But I wouldn't send him death threats either.

there seem to be inconsintencies in the roy moore yearbook christmass thingy!

Roy Moore wasn't a DA in 77, but a DDA (Deputy District Attorney)

This is off topic, but I didn't want to start its own thread. With all the people coming out and saying they were groped lately, I had a different perspective about one of them than I would have had before. I read about Bush senior who allegedly groped a teenager in 2003 (I think.) At the very end of the article it mentioned that his family and friends said it was because of his age, condition and Parkinson's.
I do not condone groping, harrassing or anything of that nature and I want to be clear about that. Earlier this year, my grandpa died. My grandma died about 3 years before him. My grandpa was a very soft spoken, kind, funny and about as good of a man I can think of. After my grandma died, my grandpa started behaving differently. His personality changed drastically and some of his actions changed. He was in his 80s and we got a phone call saying he got arrested. He was at a grocery store and in the parking lot he stopped a couple and asked the husband if he would trade his wife to have sex with him in exchange for a bag of potatoes (which he didn't have.) After this he was diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's. It was clear my grandpa wasn't being anything like grandpa. Although we kind of joked that grandpa was losing it, I know my dad took it hard and was embarrassed. I started to do research on dementia and Alzheimer's and learned hyper-sexuality and drastic behavior changes are symptoms of those illnesses and common. I never knew that and never recalled reading about this before. I told my dad about it and explained why grandpa changed. Having scientific research that gave answers to why he changed and it being a common symptom made my dad feel better.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Some old guys are creepers, no doubt. Some of them suffer from advance aging. I encourage you, if you don't know already to read about dementia and Alzheimer's (specifically the hyper-sexuality part.) They are a bitch of a disease.

Things like dementia and Alzheimer's scare the **** out of me. If I get them I wont wait around. No thanks, no way, no how. I will hold a giant, huge BBQ with all my family and friends. probably all weekend long. Then one last night with my wife if she is still here. Wine and dine her. Then arrange it so I never wake up.

If you want to do the most you can to prevent Alzheimer's get plenty of quality sleep. It is during the deepest part of sleep that the cells in your brain open up and get rinsed with fluids to remove the plaques that cause alzheimer's. As a really cool double whammy, as those plaques build up they make it harder to get quality sleep.

Nothing to be proud about if you generally live off 4-5hrs of sleep a night. You're probably a moody jerk as a result and you are significantly increasing your risk of developing dementia.
