Sanders is much better than Hayward

Every time these threads get bumped and I see that I've posted in them I have to search them to see if I'm gonna be eating any crow.

Not on this one at least!

As much as I hated the pick, I feel I've kept my arguments based on the here-and-now and tried to stay away from crying over spilled milk and then making proclamations to validate that. I feel it's too early to call scrub or savior on the kid, but he has played some incredibly, terribly bad basketball and some very nice, good games as well. I think the good games are more translatable for success than the bad has for failure at this stage.

I don't see why people feel they need to eat crow. Hayward has played a few good games, but that's it. Is that consistent enough for you guys? honz, you're pretty quick to call people out and say how right you are, but in reality, how right are you about Hayward?

Um, my analysis of him was spot on and I got ripped (or razzed in most cases, really) for it by everyone except 2 or 3 people. More athletic than people think, better defender than people think, very good passer, smart player, tough, grabs rebounds at their highest point in traffic, sweet stroke despite his poor % last year.

The Spurs have 3 great players to build a system around. The Jazz really just have 1 unless Jefferson is having a really solid night. If the Jazz could get another player as dynamic and consistent as Ginobli, we'd be in business.

Brook Lopez sucks.

Maybe you should take your own advice.

You mean he's played like a rookie?
Outside of a select few (like the top 3-4 each season), who doesn't struggle their first season? I've been a bit disappointed with Hayward, especially since we're getting inconsistent and at times terrible performances from Bell, AK and CJ. I was really hoping Hayward could give the Jazz 20 mins and 10 pts from the start.

But let's hope the way he's played in the last 3 games is what we'll start seeing on a regular basis. I think the Jazz could have a pretty good bench. Now KOC just needs to find a starting SG and relegate Bell to spot minutes.

All that may be true, but Sanders is a 4, we are stacked with players who can play the 4 on this team. Hayward fills a need and is much better than you give him credit for. Hayward's best case senario as far as his career goes is a starter who is considered a borderline All-Star and the ultimate role-player, which is exactly what we need.

Damn, seems I was pretty close with that call. Looks like Hayward may even exceed that though.

Pretty fun thread read if you like seeing ncolorado being ridiculously wrong.
